Sleeve picture is a "cut-out" of that used on KING LEO LES 903 CONNIE FRANCIS & THE KIDS NEXT DOOR. This "cut-out" was further copied by Guatemala for that country's release of MGM 17001 which, despite the same title LOS GRANDES EXITOS DE CONNIE FRANCIS, is a local edition of USA MGM SE 3853 CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS SPANSIH & LATIN AMERICAN FAVORITES.

confranfan SUBS 10th Sep 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - My Thanks To You | It is not surprising that Mexico can boast the largest Connie Francis catalog of the Spanish speaking countries of Central and South America given its immense population. This was achieved by three separate periods of distribution:
- CoRo S.A. from 1959-1962
- Discos Universales S.A. (DUSA) from 1962-1969
- Polydor/Polygram from 1970 onward
Original licensees CoRo S.A. were, in the main, responsible for local pressings of early U.S.A. MGM E/SE series releases which, judging by publicity material of the period, would all appear to have been supplied in original picture sleeves. Of greater interest, however, is a series of singles featuring, for the most part, Spanish-sung material and remarkably consecutively numbered from MGM SM-1001 through SM-1007.
DUSA marketed what by any standards, could be deemed a very healthy catalog, comprising albums, EPs, and singles; the most important release of which was the all-Spanish MGM (6)60011 CONNIE FRANCIS EN "EL PATIO". Issued in a number of editions in Mexico, the compilation, retaining its original picture sleeve, also appeared as MUCHAS GRACIAS in Chile and INVIERNO TRISTE in Venezuela, while in Brazil it was repackaged as CONNIE FRANCIS NO MEXICO.
As well as laying claim to having established Latin America's largest catalog of Connie Francis releases, Mexico was also responsible for marketing then 'unique' performances of some recordings. These include a 3:28 Italian only version of Al Di La, first issued on EP MGM EXPL 1034 DETRAS DEL AMOR and, though similar in presentation, differs to the 3:49 rendition to be found on Italy LP MGM EM 102 CONNIE IN ITALIA; and Que Sola Estoy, included on CONNIE FRANCIS EN "EL PATIO", but without a narrated passage in Spanish to be found on releases of this title in Spain.
On taking over the MGM label, Polydor set about reissuing albums handled by its predecessors. Like both CoRo S.A. and DUSA, the new licensees, produced a local edition of USA MGM SE 3853 SPANISH AND LATIN AMERICAN FAVORITES on MGM 17001 and followed this with a reissue of CONNIE FRANCIS "EL PATIO" on MGM 17001 and USA MGM SE 4474 GRANDES EXITOS DEL CINE DE LOS ANOS 60 on MGM 17004 before releasing a new all-Spanish compilation titled LO MEJOR DE CONNIE FRANCIS in both single and gatefold sleeve editions on MGM 17005.
Little has been marketed since then, but in 1979 EMI Capitol de Mexico S.A. released UNITED ARTISTS SLEM-849 CONNIE FRANCIS EN ESPANOL, A Spanish adaptation of UK LP UNITED ARTISTS UAS 30182 WHO'S HAPPY NOW? One of only two Central/South American nations to issue U.A. material - the other was Colombia - the Mexican edition differs from 10-track album marketed in Spain, and included 12 tracks; comprising all the United Artists recordings cut in this language.

confranfan SUBS 3rd Sep 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - Connie Francis: Latin Album (1981) | POLYDOR K.K. Release
POLYDOR label
The above album was assigned the Polydor international number 2391 505.
This is a new compilation and housed in a new sleeve, the front and liner of which are made up of previously unused Spanish-style poses of Connie Francis. Insert sheet provides lyrics to contents and features additional Hispanic type material. It should not be confused with either the NIPPON GRAMMOPHON or POLYDOR KK editions of MGM (S)MM 2003 CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS LATIN. No cassette equivalent was marketed for this particular compilation.
A7: TU AMOR, billed as LA PALOMA, appears in its Spanish form, and not the Neapolitan version which had been included on CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS LATIN.
B1: AMOR is a different 'take' of the July 2nd, 1960 recording which made its 'debut' in 1969 on SPAIN LP MGM 665 504 CONNIE FRANCIS CANTA EN ESPANOL Y EN STEREO Vol. IV. Recorded at the same sessions which produced USA LP MGM SE 3853 CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS SPANISH & LATIN AMERICAN FAVORITES, there are known to be at least 9 takes in Spanish only, and a further 11 in Spanish and English.
B4: AQUELLOS OJOS VERDES (GREEN EYES) was also part of the same 1960 sessions and made its 'debut' on this album. Connie's vocal track to this recording had been "lost" for nearly 20 years at the time of this release in January 1981.
Added:
- scans of front and back cover bearing the obi strip
- scans of lyric sheet
- white label promo scans
- composer credit
- black & white still issued with promotional copy

confranfan SUBS 1st Sep 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - Greatest Hits (1977) | POLYDOR K.K. release
MGM label - "MMX" Series
The above 4-LP Boxed-set is described as MONO/STEREO and the only one to feature an "MMX" prefix. It is especially significant for being the world's first boxed set compilation of titles and a perfect collection of every Connie Francis title to have entered the US charts. These appear in chronological sequence, and are complemented with local hits which have been slotted in at appropriate points. Discs MMC 9955, 9957 and 9958 are clearly labelled MONO, but that of MMC 9956 is STEREO!
D5: LA PALOMA [NEAPOLITAN version] is a "bonus" hit title. Culled from USA LP E/SE 4161 MALA FEMMENA & CONNIE'S BIG HITS FROM ITALY, locally released by Nippon Grammophon on MGM SMM 1047, the track was further included on the Nippon Grammophon/Polydor KK editions of MGM (S) MM 2003 CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS LATIN.
This boxed-set has been assigned the Polydor international number 2624 029. Individual albums numbered MGM MMX 9955-9958 have also been assigned the separate international numbers 2368 128, 2368 129, 2368 130 and 2368 131. No cassette or cartridge equivalents were issued.
E1: PRETTY LITTLE BABY, a major chart success in Japanese, is a "bonus" hit title.
F8: MUCHAS GRACIAS, listed as DANKE SCHON, makes its Japanese album debut.
G2: LOOKING FOR LOVE is the album ROCK version and not the hit singles version.
G6: IL PRIMO BACIO E L'ULTIMO, a frequent Japanese release, is a "bonus" hit title.
H4: SOUVENIRS is a "bonus" hit title.
Easily distinguishes itself as the most definitive collection of Connie Francis hits.
Added box front scan with Obi included plus label scans of all 4 promotional white label discs.
