Tom Jones - A-TOM-ic Jones (1966)
In regard to track A2 - I believe the song is True Love Comes Only Once In A Lifetime - not "Twice" as on the label. Interested to see what's listed on the back cover. I have the World Record Club Australia re-release of this with slightly different tracks.

Various Artists - Superstars Of The 70's (1973)
Actually the other one that stood out to me was Purple Haze (C4) - 1967. I have it on the Jimi Hendrix Smash Hits album that was released in 1968.

The Beach Boys - The Fabulous Beach Boys (1969)
This is one of the better known and more sought after MFP Australia issues. The re-release of The Beach Boys "Pet Sounds". Often mentioned in lists of the worst lp covers. Note - photo provided by Go-Set magazine.

Frank Ifield - The Best Of Frank Ifield (1970)
The notes on the back of this album refer to I Remember You as being his first yodelling disc - I never regarded it as a yodelling song - just listened to it again and still don't.

Frank Ifield - The Best Of Frank Ifield (1982)
I have a few of the MFP Gold Edge series these had the gate-fold cover with the actual record inserted from the middle - I hope that makes sense. I have Johnny Cash 1970 (the first in the series), Diana Ross and The Supremes Plus, Simon and Garfunkel and Robert Goulet With Love.

Frank Ifield - The Best Of Frank Ifield (1982)
Hi Neil Forbes - According to the database from the site http://australianrecordlabels.com/ your copy would be 1971 - I know databases are only as good as the info that goes into them. The site was working yesterday but for some reason I can't access it now.

The Bee Gees - The Bee Gees (1972)
Actually Neil you are echoing my thoughts Wine and Women would have been a worthwhile addition here - actually Cherry Red, Wine and Women and I Was A Leader showed up on Best Of The Bee Gees Vol.2 Australian release as apposed to Best Of Bee Gees Vol.2 on the later overseas versions.

The Bee Gees - The Bee Gees (1972)
No Neil definitely not me - actually I didn't even buy the version that I uploaded here, it was originally my sister's copy. Really not a great track list more just historical interest. Spicks and Specks off course the stand out.

The Monkees - Monkeemania (1979)
I agree with you on this one Lee Wrecker - a really solid, well presented and interesting compilation. I love Micky's Steam Engine 99 on this.

Herman's Hermits - The Most Of Herman's Hermits (1971)
Thanks for the added info Lee - I would go with 1972 as the release year, I wasn't aware of the box set but makes sense all similar timeline/genre.

The Bee Gees - The Bee Gees (1972)
Universal record club version "Bee Gees Revisited" sold on ebay for $58.70. I also have both versions of our kinda country - original cover was much classier.

The Bee Gees - The Bee Gees (1972)
Looking through my old scrapbook cuttings a couple of interesting tidbits - this album was also released in Australia by the Universal Record Club cat no. U977 (mono) SU977 (stereo) same track list different cover design. "Spicks and Specks" was the Bee Gees 11th single and their first hit. Such was the luck of the group that it became a hit while they were on a ship to England . They couldn't get a hit while on Australian soil.

Herman's Hermits - The Most Of Herman's Hermits (1971)
I was aware that AXIS started before 1974 - 1972 seems about right to me - I would be interested if someone has any information to the contrary.

Herman's Hermits - The Most Of Herman's Hermits (1971)
Just wondering about the release date of 1971 - according to the Michael De Looper database listings - AXIS was an EMI budget label, commenced in 1972 - first release was Johnny Farnham Sings The Shows - cat no. AXIS 6000. Off course this could be incorrect.

Neil Sedaka - Steppin' Out (1976)
Elton John served as a backup vocal (uncredited) on the title song "Steppin' Out" just as he had done for Sedaka during his recording of "Bad Blood" in 1975.

Three Dog Night - Harmony (1971)
Interestingly (at least for me) - The Three Dog Night Story, 1964–1975 states that vocalist Danny Hutton's girlfriend, actress June Fairchild (best known as the "Ajax Lady" from the Cheech and Chong movie Up In Smoke) suggested the name after reading a magazine article about indigenous Australians, in which it was explained that on cold nights they would customarily sleep in a hole in the ground while embracing a dingo (feral dog). On colder nights they would sleep with two dogs and, if the night was freezing, it was a "three dog night".
I would of thought being Americans that it would have referred to Eskimos and huskies - same principle though.
