Written ca. 1800 by Carel and Willem Balmer [YouTube Video] The One-Legged Devil is a stately dance with a mournful tune, while Titata is a spirited bransle full of wildness and hemiolas. I wonder if the titles have been transposed. Both dance tunes are from Oude en Nieuwe Hollantse Boerenlieties, Amsterdam ca. 1700 [YouTube Video] Te Haarlen in den Houte is taken from an Amsterdam song book of 1655 and tells of the Haarlem Woods being full of evil men and wanton girls, and of a young man who gets to sleep with one of the girls Ruitertje Jonk van Jaren is a dance tune from Oude en Nieuwe Hollantse Boerenlieties, Amsterdam ca. 1700 [YouTube Video]
