kab2112 SUBS 17th Jan 2024		Vinyl Album Wishbone Ash - There's The Rub (1974)	Martin Turner wrote the lyrics for “Lady Jay”. He based it on local legends of Kitty Jay’s grave, which is located on a remote moorland area in Dartmoor, Devon. Local folklore suggests that it is the grave of a young woman (Kitty Jay) who tragically died around the end of the 18th century. At that time, suicide was considered to be a sin and they would not allow Kitty Jay to be buried in the consecrated grounds of any local churchyards. Local superstition was that burial at a crossroads would confuse any tormented spirit. It would remain there, totally confused about what direction to take. According to the legend, Kitty Jay was an orphan child who worked on a local farm where a relationship developed with the farmer’s son. As a result of this relationship, she fell pregnant. The boy denied having anything to do with it. Kitty Jay was forced to leave the farm and fell into destitution. With her life was in ruins, with no chance of finding work locally, she hung herself in a barn at the farm, and was subsequently buried in a remote area of the moor. So the story goes !!!!!!!!
kab2112 SUBS 15th Jan 2024		Vinyl Album Wishbone Ash - Wishbone Ash (1974)	Review This first album was a sign of things to come. They had only formed in October 1969 about 14 months before the release of the album which was recorded in September 1970, less than a year of forming the band. Albums were known as L/Ps back in the day. There were not many groups who used twin lead guitars at that time. – Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac and The Allman Brothers Band being the only ones of note that I remember. I bought this album on it’s release in December 1970 after reading reviews. Sadly, my original copy was damaged and I bought another (this copy) a few years later. The album opens up with a real boogie tune in Blind Eye plenty of stop/start guitar work from Ted & Andy. Lady Whiskey follows this with some nifty guitar & bass playing. Queen of Torture again has some great guitar work in this rocker. On side two Handy opens up with some excellent bass work from Martin followed by some atmospheric guitar work from Ted & Andy. Phoenix remains a concert favourite. It starts out as a slow eerie ballad type song and soon evolves into a guitar storm from Ted & Andy. Absolutely brilliant guitar playing with excellent vocals to boot. I still play this now and then on CD. I don’t play any of my L/Ps, as I have all my favourites on CD. 1 person found this review helpful. ✔︎ Helpful Review?

There are two other entries here for this album both of which have it in the artist field. I didn't want to confuse the issue by showing differences.

I was surprised to find how heavy and thick this L/P is in comparison to the others. Although I played it quite often when I bought it new, it looks unplayed.

kab2112 SUBS 29th Jun 2022		Vinyl Album Jesse Colin Young - Love On The Wing (1977)	Jesse Colin Young was on the 1974 programme at Wembley Stadium which included CSNY, Joni Mitchell and The Band. He was pretty good as I remember it. I later bought two of his albums on the strenght of that, including this one. The bike on the covers is a Yamaha XS750 2D. I had one of these about 1979/80 Great bike in it's day.
