LaurenceD SUBS 5th Jun 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Dave Brubeck Quartet - Jazz At College Of Pacific (1954) | With no scans, it's hard to be certain about the country for this item, but a 10" release with the 3-13 cat# would almost surely be the USA release. If there are no objections, I will change this to USA and add scans here, rather than create a new entry.
[edit] done, added scans. note the "2-54" mark on the cover back, lower left

LaurenceD SUBS 4th Jun 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumTerry Stafford - Suspicion [16 tracks] | Hm, this entry appears to be something of a hodge-podge...
We have the cat# and date for the original USA mono release, but there are 16 tracks instead of 12. The cover images { 503352, 1210241 } look to be from some later reissue. The labels { 2835269, 2835270 } are from an original 1964 stereo pressing.
My stereo copy: my stereo entry

LaurenceD SUBS 4th Jun 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumDick Marx - Life Magazine Presents The Original Musical Score From MAG (1959) | Front side is instrumental music from the presentation (no narration)
Back side plays a repeating 8-second tone
Apparently this is the soundtrack from a presentation to promote advertising in magazines and specifically LIFE magazine. There was also a one page letter expressing thanks for attending the presentation.

LaurenceD SUBS 31st May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Chambers Brothers - New Generation (1971) | Re track B1 composer credit: some labels list G. Chambers, some (Terre Haute?) list G. Chambers, B. Keenan
LaurenceD SUBS 31st May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe 4 Seasons - The 4 Seasons Sing Big Hits By Burt Bacharach / Hal David And Bob Dylan (1965) | Added alternate (earlier?) cover and label scans. Hopefully I have them in the correct order.
LaurenceD SUBS 29th May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumShelly Manne - Young Billy Young (1969) | In the film, Robert Mitchum sings the title track; Billy Edd Wheeler sings on this soundtrack LP, and on the single as well.
LaurenceD SUBS 29th May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumAllan Sherman - Togetherness (1967) | Added scans, including complete front cover (with respect to AllHit45s)
LaurenceD SUBS 27th May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumNeil Diamond - Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show (1969) | I have a copy which matches the images { 497868 - 497871 } from vidman45, and has a little "93047" sticker on the shrinkwrap, covering the 73047 number.
LaurenceD SUBS 27th May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumKenny Loggins With Jim Messina - Sittin' In (1971) | Added cover & label scans from PC 31044 pressing, with barcode and "Vahevala" spelling
LaurenceD SUBS 25th May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumPat Collins - Turn On (1967) | Growing up in the Los Angeles area, I remember frequently seeing adverts and articles in the L.A. Times about Pat Collins and the Celebrity Club on Sunset where she would perform.
The 1967 film Divorce American Style features a scene at her club.
LaurenceD SUBS 23rd May 2024 | | Vinyl Album[no artist listed] - A Hard Day's Night (1964) | This release recycles six songs, along with the backing tracks, from the 'Liverpools' LP W 9001
LaurenceD SUBS 23rd May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumHarve Presnell - New Echoes Of The Old West (1965) | A couple of notes about the composer credits:
- Tracks A5 & B1(b) have the credit "will advise" - haven't seen that one before...
- I was surprised to see Bartholomew/Domino for track B5, and I can confirm that it's actually the song by Jane Bowers & Dave Guard.
LaurenceD SUBS 21st May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumDon Bowman - Still Fighting Mental Health (1979) | Don was the opening performer for Willie Nelson's shows at the time of this release.
Willie and Waylon contributed backing vocals for tracks A1,A3 & A5
LaurenceD SUBS 19th May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumColeman Hawkins And His All Stars - Timeless Jazz (1955) | Track A1 is actually Edgar Sampson's "Blue Lou", mis-titled "Blue Love" on label.
LaurenceD SUBS 19th May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumGeorge Harrison - Best Of Three (1971) | The artist is not stated on the cover or labels.
These are not outtakes, but the same recordings issued on "All Things Must Pass".
Of interest are the delta numbers (and Alco stamps) in the runouts.
Do you suppose that the folks at Monarch/Alco looked at this and thought that it was some independent release by a band called "Best Of Three" ?
LaurenceD SUBS 13th May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Monroe Brothers - Early Blue Grass Music (1963) | Added complete front cover and earlier labels with acknowledgement to 78-Ron
LaurenceD SUBS 11th May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Hanna-Barbera Singers - Winsome Witch In It's Magic (1966) | Side 1 actually has four banded tracks: the three listed, plus one lengthy track which is a continuation of the "It's Magic" story.
LaurenceD SUBS 5th May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumHomer And Jethro - Strike Back (1966) | The back cover image (1703974) belongs to King 639, perhaps posted here by mistake; hidden for now.
LaurenceD SUBS 3rd May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumMilton Grayson - The Velvet Voice Of Milton Grayson (1961) | No composer credits provided, but 8 of these 10 tracks previously appeared on Keen singles (see Milton Grayson on 45cat).
LaurenceD SUBS 3rd May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Jazz, Vol. 1, South (1958) | Added scans (back cover, booklet front & back) from a later pressing, judging by the address info. The front cover and labels are basically the same.
LaurenceD SUBS 3rd May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumSam The Sham And The Pharaohs - The Sam The Sham Revue (1967) | I created a stereo Nefertiti entry and moved Steve Carp's labels over there. My copy had the Revue cover with the Nefertiti labels, so I added the alternate labels to the new entry as well.
From what I can determine, USA mono and stereo Nefertiti labels exist with either the Nefertiti cover or the Revue cover; I am not aware of mono pressings with the Revue labels.
LaurenceD SUBS 1st May 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumGene Pitney - Only Love Can Break A Heart (1962) | Added scans from an earlier pressing; the cover front had a die-cut opening which revealed the photo insert inside. I have included:
- earlier back cover, with the different track sequence
- photo insert
- earlier labels, with the correct track sequence
LaurenceD SUBS 29th Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumIan And Sylvia - So Much For Dreaming (1967) | Regarding Sylvia's composer credits (A6,B1,B6): some labels have Sylvia Tyson, some have Sylvia Fricker.
LaurenceD SUBS 27th Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Oldies But Goodies Vol. I (1959) | Added scans (3549552-3549554) from pressing with a different back cover, and slightly altered labels with new delta numbers. The numbers would suggest mid-1961.
LaurenceD SUBS 23rd Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - U. S. Marine Corps ... Traveling On Volume II | The GXSV prefix seems to have been used for pressings issued for various U.S. government agencies. If these numbers align with XSV numbers, then I think this was issued in the latter half of the 1960s; the songs contained herein seem to range up to 1965 or so.
LaurenceD SUBS 12th Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumJust Us - I Can't Grow Peaches On A Cherry Tree (1966) | There is a stamped 'H' in the runouts.
LaurenceD SUBS 11th Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumJust Us - I Can't Grow Peaches On A Cherry Tree (1966) | The images added by Bgray1 were from a mono release, so they have been moved to KL-1502.
LaurenceD SUBS 11th Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumNina Simone - Wild Is The Wind (1966) | The track order on the cover is not quite correct; the labels reflect the actual playing order. I have re-ordered the track numbers accordingly.
LaurenceD SUBS 8th Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumVladimir Horowitz - Schumann Kinderscenen And Chopin Mazurkas (1950) | Yes, very close, within a fraction of a millimeter.
LaurenceD SUBS 7th Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumBobby Darin - Oh! Look At Me Now (1962) | Added additional scans; on my back cover, there is an ink stamp replacing the 'W' prefix with a 'T'.
