LaurenceD SUBS 12th Aug 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumPete Seeger - The Folksinger's Guitar Guide (1961) | I added an alternate back cover; same cat#, dated 1961.
The earlier issues, ca. 1956, had differing prefixes & numbers, e.g. FQ 8354, FP 354, CRB 1 (box). I suppose that they should be separate entries, but I'm not sure.

LaurenceD SUBS 6th Aug 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumJimmy Smith - Christmas '64 (1964) | Scans are from a later pressing (late 1965?) with '64 covered by a sticker on the front, and removed from the back.
LaurenceD SUBS 6th Aug 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBilly Boyd - Twangy Guitars (1960) | Changed artist from "Bill Boyd" to "Billy Boyd", in order to separate this one from the 'Cowboy Ramblers' guy. As it turns out, the guitarist featured here is Jerry Cole.

LaurenceD SUBS 28th Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumAnna Black - Meet Anna Black (1968) | Here's an interview where Anna (Barbra Anne McMillan) talks about the making of this album: swanfungus interview
LaurenceD SUBS 23rd Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumAdvertising - Advertising Jingles (1978) | I came to this page and could not see any images. I thought that there was a bug until I realized that my ad blocker was engaged... :-)
LaurenceD SUBS 20th Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Jump Around (1963) | Added some images and some dates from trade mags, both Dec 1964. Anybody know the source of the 1963 release date for the "Jump Around" version of this LP?
LaurenceD SUBS 17th Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumMartha Carson - Journey To The Sky (1956) | The "Meet the Girls" sticker on the cover was part of an RCA Victor promotion involving nine LP releases in January 1956 (see image 3032610).
LaurenceD SUBS 17th Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Everly Brothers - Songs Our Daddy Taught Us (1958) | Added alt label scans with deltas.
Different A1 composer credit: M. Travis
LaurenceD SUBS 14th Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Personality Spots For Your National Guard (1961) | Each track contains a spoken endorsement for the National Guard; the Side A tracks (plus B3) also have the artist singing a brief jingle, along the lines of: "Hey, how about it. Hey, gonna shout it. Go with the National Guard" - except for the Les Paul/Mary Ford track, which contains a snippet of "Song In Blue".
The labels are oversized, about 4.5 inches, or 11.5 cm in diameter.
The "7/61" on the back cover is likely the intended air date. I found a National Guard annual report online for fiscal year ending June 30 1961, which lists most of these artists as having recorded 15-minute shows for broadcast.

LaurenceD SUBS 14th Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBob Flanigan/John Gray - Togetherness (1964) | If the name Bob Flanigan doesn't quite ring a bell... he was a founding member of the Four Freshmen. He sticks to the trombone on this session, no vocals.
LaurenceD SUBS 11th Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - 12 Collector's Goodies (1963) | This is a "Goodies" album that actually lives up to its name. A collection of early 1960s sides from labels such as Blast, Whale, Cheer, Raven, etc. Unfortunately all of the tracks on the LP are presented in re-channeled stereo.
A couple of discrepancies worth noting:
- the label erroneously credits track A2 Dorothy to The Excellents; the cover has the correct artist credit.
- track B5 is listed as Too Young by The Emblems (side A of Bayfront 108), but it actually plays the b-side from that single: Bang Bang "Shoot 'Em Daddy".
LaurenceD SUBS 11th Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumAngela Cartwright - Angela Cartwright Sings (1959) | The track titles (and the track order of A2/B2) differ from cover vs. labels, so I have entered the tracks based on the cover, which reflects the correct order;
Variant titles on labels:
A3 = I Want To Dance With Fred Astaire
B1 = Crackerjack
B2 = Merry Go Round
B3 = Sixtyfour Tadpoles
B4 = The Kids In My Block
B6 = Never-Never Land
Various discographies date this release to 1959. Angela's blog states that she recorded this LP when she was 7 years old (she was born Sep 9, 1952). If that blog is correct, this could have been recorded in late 1959 or in 1960. So I'm not too sure about that release date, since the only trade mag reference that I've found is the Dec 1960 Billboard provided in the notes.

LaurenceD SUBS 11th Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumP. J. Colt - P. J. Colt (1970) | I added scans (labels and sleeve front) from a Sterling Sound (NY) reference disc. Hope that this is the right place to put them ...
LaurenceD SUBS 7th Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumSteve Baron Quartet - The Mother Of Us All (1969) | B3 label = God Never Loved For Me
Steve Baron passed away in March of 2002, of hepatitis.
Regarding the liner notes: Steve and Pete Townshend met and became friends when the Who toured the USA. After an incident during a Who appearance at the Fillmore East in 1969, Steve helped Pete avoid entanglements with the NYPD. Mike Jahn recounts the event here.
LaurenceD SUBS 4th Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumLouis Jordan - Somebody Up There Digs Me (1957) | The labels on my copy differ considerably between sides 1 & 2. Composer credits only on side 2...
LaurenceD SUBS 2nd Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - The Les Brown All-Stars (1955) | Bob Gordon, who contributed baritone sax in the Pell and Fagerquist sessions here, was killed in an auto accident on Aug 28, 1955 while on his way to play at a Pete Rugolo concert in San Diego.
LaurenceD SUBS 2nd Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumPatsy Cline - Sentimentally Yours (1973) | Not sure why they used MCA Coral labels for this pressing; the cat number is from the MCA 1973 reissue series, so I have entered the item accordingly.
LaurenceD SUBS 27th Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Challengers - Surfing With The Challengers (1963) | Added alternate labels from my "Lloyd Thaxton" copy.
Given the different covers, cover titles and slightly different cover cat numbers, I'm wondering if we should separate the two versions...
LaurenceD SUBS 27th Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumTed Lewis - Me And My Shadow (1959) | Reissue of Unique 108 (ca. 1956).
My copy (scans 3017240-3017243) has ULP-143 on the cover, ULP-108 on the labels. Some pressings have labels with ULP-143 as well.

LaurenceD SUBS 24th Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumHoward Roberts - Mr. Roberts Plays Guitar (1957) | Reversed photo on cover :-)
LaurenceD SUBS 18th Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Miracles - Greatest Hits From The Beginning (1965) | Added alternate "T-254" label scans from my copy, except for side 2, which is identical to image 1233917, with "TM-254".
LaurenceD SUBS 11th Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumGloria Loring - Today (1968) | Cover images { 3003879, 3003881 } are from a mono cover with a 'stereo' sticker applied. This LP contained a stereo disc, which can be seen at this listing; so I have moved the images to SE-4499.
LaurenceD SUBS 9th Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumShawn Phillips - Contribution (1970) | Added scans from a promo copy. Several song title differences between the cover and labels; I would say that this entry's current track listings are the better choices.
LaurenceD SUBS 2nd Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumJimmy Reed - Found Love (1960) | Added label scans from my copy; brackets on side 1, oval on side 2.
LaurenceD SUBS 2nd Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Flahooley! (1951) | Billboard reported that Capitol went to some trouble and expense to secure the rights to release this soundtrack recording. I think it's safe to say that they did not recoup their investment.
LaurenceD SUBS 2nd Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Twisters - Doin' The Twist | An assortment of rather pedestrian twist instrumentals; but for those with a need to twist to "Take Me Out To The Ball Game", then this LP is just the ticket.
Does anyone have some info about this New York Fortuna label? d'cogs has this as a 1962 release, but I have found nothing to support that so far.
LaurenceD SUBS 27th May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Gary McFarland Orchestra - The Jazz Version Of "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" (1961) | The Billboard review date (Dec 18) would suggest that this release was rushed out, given that it was recorded in mid-November.
LaurenceD SUBS 24th May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumTyree Glenn - At The Roundtable (1959) | Looking at the trade magazines, the stereo release was issued in December 1958, but I cannot find a mention of the mono version until February of 1959.
LaurenceD SUBS 24th May 2022 | | Vinyl Album[no artist listed] - dbx Presents Adventures In Recorded Silence (1979) | I notice that each side has the same runout info: dbx-000-A/B AL+ 5-24-79
So it seems like they cheated a bit ...

LaurenceD SUBS 21st May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beach Boys - Live In London (1976) | Added scans from regular issue (not Columbia House)
