If you have an issue identical in most every way, but the track listing is different, I'd suggest a new entry would be preferable, and we can add note / links between each in notes.
What do people think of doing this?

Magic Marmalade 28th Oct 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumThompson Twins - Here's To Future Days (1985) | In the spirit of Halloween, I'd just like to nominate this album cover as the creepiest design ever...
...I get the concept of the "dissatisfied" looking child, but seriously, that's a weird / possessed looking kid!
Gives me the creeps every time I see it :(

Magic Marmalade 20th Oct 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumBjörk - Vespertine (2001) | ReviewSuper-noodly!
...I missed this album first time around, having been basically distracted by other musical offerings at the time, which drew my attention away from bjork, and onto other things...
... And having found Medulla in a charity shop last year, and found it largely unlistenable, I wasn't really inspired to seek this out.
... But having had a lucky double tap a couple of weeks ago at a boot fair, of finding both this, and a 180g reissue of debut (a fave) for a fiver each (more than I would usually go for at a boot), I came home pretty pleased with my day's work, and was even more pleased to find that this is a really good album!
A double disc 180g in a lovely glossy gatefold, it is a very consistent, thoroughly immersive, lo-fi beats, programming, and electro-noodle affair with multi-layered bjork vocalisations which create a choral effect overlay, with a final layer of the familiar bjork-ish weirdness in the lead vocals.
... It sounds like a musical version of James Cameron's "The Abyss" saturated with a heavy Boards Of Canada style vibe... Very floaty, and absorbing, and likely to put you in a trance like state... Or electro-coma! :)
It conjures images in the mind of some undefined nostalgia that you can't quite put your finger on, and which you'd swear you'd never actually experienced, and touches something profound you could not even describe adequately, but all in a very memorably melodic way.
My copy was scratched on all four sides, so it was a double happy experience to find no blemishes at all in the playing, in what is a brilliantly pressed vinyl, full of the rich acoustic weight that comes with the vinyl sound, coupled with the clarity and precision of a CD.
One little note... The back cover gives the last track title as UnisonA ("a" on the end) but everywhere else gives it only as "unison"... Although you'd need a magnifying glass to see it!
... And all this, for a fiver!!!

Magic Marmalade 15th Oct 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Let It Be (2021) | This will be changed to International in due course.
...I've just added Apple [International] as a label, but unfortunately, at the moment (And in the words of Robocop), I'm having... trouble.
The site may just need to refresh, but this designation is not currently available to me.
Patience, patients.

Magic Marmalade 20th Sep 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Bay Big Band - The Big Bay Band's Latin Beat (1958) | Hmmm... when that one turns up, we'll think on it some more, but as for what's on this page, whitewhale is orignal entry maker and supplied only images with title as he suggests...
... so I've switched it back to The Big Bay Band's Latin Beat.

Magic Marmalade 19th Sep 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Bay Big Band - The Big Bay Band's Latin Beat (1958) | Can we zero in on a correct title for this?
...As per recent correction request to change, I'm not seeing this entry's title on the labels or cover, although a previous request was made to change it to it's current form.
Looks to me like it should be: "The Big Bay Band's Latin Beat" (?)

...All over jacket: "Songs From The Future", but labels: "Songs Of The Future"... which is the correct title?
(Nice piece of prog this one... a little bit Yes, a little bit Moody Blues, and hear shades od Genesis and folk aspects, albeit a slightly second tier production)

Magic Marmalade 8th Sep 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumWillie Nelson - Here's Willie Nelson (1963) | I've consolidated and refreshed the Willie Nelson vinyl discography, by means of pseudonymology,.....pseudonymification...er... I added pseudonyms.
All parts a pieces thereof have thus also been shoved through the pipe of moderation, so any remaining errors will now at least appear all in one place :)
|
Magic Marmalade 7th Sep 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumPhil Silvers - Phil Silvers And Swinging Brass (1957) | Ah!....
...Wait a mo, there may be a way....
... Is the artist here just "Phil Silvers", or "Phil Silvers And Swinging Brass"?
I've just added pseudonyms to Phil Silvers' discography, and this, if the latter of the two, would be the only album in his discography under the name: "Phil Silvers And Swinging Brass", which, if added as a pseudonym to Nelson Riddle page, would only bring this album over to it (not other Phil Silvers albums)
((This idea would of course, break down under two specific circumstances... Firstly, if this iss only the title of the album, and not the artist - anyone advise? - or second, an album was released by him under the name "Phil Silvers And Swinging Brass" that was not a Nelson Riddle collaboration))
Any thoughts on this issue, anyone?
|
Magic Marmalade 7th Sep 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumPhil Silvers - Phil Silvers And Swinging Brass (1957) | The facility to connect this Phil Silvers album alone to Nelson Riddle page, to the exclusion of all other Phil Silvers albums does not exist on site I'm afraid.

Magic Marmalade 7th Sep 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Today's Super Greats Part-1 (1973) | Front cover edit has already been approved I'm afraid...

Magic Marmalade 6th Sep 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumGleemen - Oltre... Lontano, Lontano (2014) | Moved "Orange vinyl" to notes, from title...
...No rear cover scans or barcodes on either BWR 164 issues, so can't say if these are separate products yet (Might be the orange has slightly different barcode), so will leave both entries here until barcodes / scan are added in order to make this determination.

Magic Marmalade 2nd Sep 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumViolent Femmes - Violent Femmes (1983) | ReviewA slacker's daydream...
...A very skiffle-ish set up with brushy snare and drums, slack acoustic guitars and bass, with the odd bit of electric giutar, Xylophone, violin and other equally leisurely sounding instruments.
It's a bit like They Might Be Giants took up skiffle instruments to make a jaunty, early indie punk sound... shades of Television sometimes too.
I can't help but think, that given the date of recording and release, and what others were doing at the time, this might be quite an important album, in shaping the "slacker" indie sound of the nineties, and would be very surprised if the likes of Beck, and other nineties acts weren't inspired or otherwise influenced by this album.
Almost a blueprint for that coming sound, well before it's time.
...And not conceding to the contemporary sounds around them then (synths etc.), doesn't make this album dated in any way... as I have suggested, it could almost be mistaken for a nineties indie album.
Book-ended by two great tunes; The first, a song Iwas pleased to say I already knew...
(You've more than likely heard it too, being a feature on at least one nineties film: Grosse Pointe Blank)
...In the shape of Blister In The Sun, and the last, a very sensitive, memorable tune called Good Feeling, it all add up to a great "little" album, that fairly shuffles it's way along, with the occasional melancholy moments, punk-lite nods, and bops.
And yes, possibly more important an album in the scheme of things than is generally realised.
This pressing is a little flexible, but not overly so (not "Floppy" by any reckoning), but sounds great... full sharp, and with an acoustic weight that allows the music to roll about nicely.
>One final thing of note, is that very striking cover, which, although looks like a reproduction print of some old oil painting that hangs in granny's hall way, it's actually a photograph, believe it or not, and having it standing in the room anywhere always draws the eye as a piece of art, just like a painting<
((It's also 40 years old next year... Possible candidate for an RSD release?))
