Johnny Bond - Ten Little Bottles
All the big record labels had a mail club. You start by getting some albums cheap then you had buy an album a month or they would send the record of the month of their choice and a bill for the MSRP. I found this album in the charity shop still sealed and I'll bet the person that got it didn't ask for it.

A good album of ballads some of them are sad, and then there is B5 with that Hound dawg (aka Dobro) cheering you up.

Ernest Tubb And His Texas Troubadours - Blue Christmas (1964)
When the band starts playing there is no doubt you are going to be hearing a fine Tubb vocal. There is no BS here, this is good stuff.

Various Artists - Where Were You When... (1970)
So to reply to your question edlongus, I think it could be a a remake but i'm not sure what they did here because Dot may have bought the recording when they signed Dodie.. The hit 45 was not a Dot record. It was on Crystalette records #724. I don't have an original mono version. The Stereo version is also on another CD I have (Chills & Fever The Dot Story, One Day 3CD050 ,British) The song runs 2:21 on that CD & the 45 label pictured on 45cat has 2:20 as the time.Another member on 45 cat posted the track from the Brussels CD It has a Black and white photo on the cover you can check it out.It is very common for an artist to remake their hits when they change labels.Dot was selling stereo albums in late '58.

Various Artists - Where Were You When... (1970)
In my opinion the Stevens track on this album is reprocessed into stereo. A radio station in Boston (WROR) was playing oldies in the 70s (from the 50s) and it was automated meaning the station had tape machines mixing and airing music. The station was Stereo-FM and the tape suppler made the music sound stereo even if it wasn't and you could tell it wasn't as good. The CD Dodie Stevens Ultimate Collection (Marginal Records CDMAR 051, Brussels) has the true stereo version on it and I used that for comparison.

... and it's good they did because if you missed the 45 it wasn't easy to get the old songs before the great CD reissue of anything you could want. Now if you want an artist in your collection it only takes a few clicks at C. C. Music . com or Oldies . com or whatever.

Various Artists - The Rarest Of The Rare Collectors Showcase Volume 1 (1990)
At first I though the artist at B1 was a misprint because there were half dozen or so groups with the name Corvettes. This is indeed correct . The Carvettes had at least one record that I could find and It was A Lover's Prayer b/w Never Gonna Leave Me (Copa 200 - in 1959 ) B8 is Please Be My Girlfriend - The Confidential 4 on Boss records 001.

Various Artists - The Best Vocal Groups in Rhythm And Blues (1957)
I am not sure what to believe about this album. Mine has this cover with a solid maroon Dootone label with 1955 copyright at the bottom. This entry lists 1957 but the address on the back has a 5 digit zip code that was started in 1963.Something is fishy here! The music is damn good, for sure.

C7 is a misprint on the cover and label, should be "Down On The Corner Of Love" Capitol 45 F3557 from 1956. D2 is a misprint s/b Rockin' at the Drive-in (Capitol F-3965 from 1958)

Daddy (B1) sounds a little strange with vocal by Kyser and the boys!!! That's Dick Haymes doing the vocal on the 1944 #1 hit at B4. Kitty Kallen is singing the #1 hit from 1945 at C2. The transfer to microgroove could have been better on some of these tracks but to be fair it was done pre-digital.

Neil Young / Neil And The Shocking Pinks - Everybody's Rockin' (1983)
Don't be so quick to call this purposefully uncommercial because it was released during the time the Stray Cats were near the top of the U.S. charts. This album made # 46 in the U.S. & # 50 in England on the album charts.
