wordnwot 4th Oct 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumPink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon (1973) | Added Front Sticker.
My vinyl is A2 / B2 with GDA and GGG stampers. My 'solid blue' labels at (3pm) GDA and GGG stamper code matrices suggest solid blue labels were used in great numbers. Assuming approximately 300 pressings per stamper letter. GDA = stamper 103 and GGG = 111, with each stamper used successfully pressing 300 sides, (my Side A) GDA stamper code = 103 x 300 = 30,750 of (+or-) 150 & (my Side B) GGG stamper code = GGG = 111 x 300 = 33,150 of (+or-) 150. So counting upto my pressing, can assume 30,900 + 33,300 64,200 solid blue labels were used (at least) however who is to say how many more were pressed beyond mine??
So tell us your Solid Blue stamper codes folks so we can get an idea.

wordnwot 18th Apr 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beach Boys - Milestones (1973) | I purchased my copy in Holland in April 1973.
Looking now at the matrixes I see Sunflower has all the markings of a UK pressing (except the label) matrix SSLA 8251 A-1 SSLA 8251 B-1
whereas the Surf's Up vinyl is 5C062-92744A//HD 16235-1-Y
5C062-92744B//HD 16236-1-Y
Clearly a continental pressing.

|
wordnwot 5th Apr 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumJulie Driscoll - Brian Auger (1968) | - or about 42 Mars Bars, give or take a bite! (4d old money)
Price of a Mars bar 2019 are 60p
so the record would realistically cost £25.05 in today's money!
Makes current new vinyl cost stack up quite well.
|
wordnwot 28th Jan 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumSpring - Spring (1971) | Lavish triple fold-out cover but Only 2000 copies were pressed up. Likely a triple foldout sleeve had to be specially ordered, how many to order to be made up, that would have been the question and on a certain budget? They probably matched the number of sleeves made with vinyls pressed and waited for it to be a big hit. Or they busted the budget on the extravagant sleeve.....Or...Maybe because the imprint was being wound up and a decision had been already made to cut costs thus limit the pressing?
Anyway you look at it, this album is sublime a real treat to the ears.
Get a copy if you can..... A real investment!
Get One Of These....
