Biography - Prelude    USA

Legendary disco and dance label, founded in 1976 by Marvin Schlachter after the U.S. Pye label was discontinued by its parent, ATV; its initial catalogue series (71000 for 45's and 12100 for LP's) was carried over from the prior label with the catalogue prefix changed from PYE- to PRL- (and its earliest releases actually re-branded from Pye). It had some of the biggest hits of the disco era - "In The Bush" by Musique, "Come To Me" by France Joli and "Must Be The Music" by Secret Weapon - and even survived the "death" of disco by several years, lasting through 1986; after which its back catalogue was sold to Unidisc.
