Biography - Song Bird USA SONG BIRD Gospel subsidiary of Peacock Records 2809 Erastus St. 26, Houston, Tx 77026 The first record was issued in June or July 1963. In February 1973, the label was sold to ABC Records by Don Robey, founder and owner of Duke-Peacock Records. The label name was inspired by the nickname of famed gospel singer "Songbird" Inez Andrews, she herself being among the most prestigious and successful artists on the Song Bird roster. ABC at first retained the label name "Song Bird", but altered the label design. In 1974, the label name was changed to "ABC / Song Bird".
