Biography - Wattle Recordings    Australia

This Australian folk label from the late 1950s issued its last record in 1963. Wattle was founded by Peter Hamilton and was a Film Production company as well as a record label. Edgar Waters also worked with Hamilton in the running of the organisation. It had more than one address in its few years of existence, being based variously at 131 Cathedral Street, Sydney, 46 Windsor Street, Paddington, N.S.W. (a suburb of Sydney) and 294, Little Collins Street, Melbourne, Victoria.

The Rambleers and other Bush Bands featured heavily in its repertoire as well as recordings made in England of artists from the English folk scene such as Ewan MacColl and Bert Lloyd, Peggy Seeger, and accompanists.
