According to forum posts on the Hollies' official site, the rights to the recordings from 1963 - 65 would have been owned by EMI (They're now owned by Warner Music Group) while recordings made from "For Certain Because" onwards were owned by "The Hollies Ltd" and licensed to EMI.
From R.C.: "By 1979 they were on Polydor then in 1983 on WEA", maybe so but that's not the point, R.C. The recordings contained in this compilation date from the group's Parlophone(EMI) days, and as such, EMI owns them, and should be the only company to issue these tracks in ALL markets where EMI is represented.
Polygram were issuing Hollies material sourced from the Parlophone label, that should be exclusively handled in Germany by EMI Electrola GmbH and appearing on the Odeon label in that market. Polygram has no business issuing any of these tracks in Germany or anywhere else for that matter!
as I mentioned before this label was used for Australian compilation albums from 1976 right up to the the early 1990's Ripper '76 and bullseye under the polygram and festival
Ahhh so that's where the label originated from for you in Australia remember ripper '76,bullseye an throbbing '84 and other compilations under this label would know this
