Grassella Oliphant is an American drummer who backed Ahmad Jamal, Sarah Vaughan, Gloria Lynne and Shirley Scott. Additionally, Mr. Oliphant had recorded with Shirley Scott two discs of 33.33 rpm which were The Soul Is Willing and Soul Shoutin' both of which were issued in 1963 by means of the Prestige record label.

When Mr. Oliphant became a bandleader, he had two discs of 33.33 rpm issued by means of Atlantic records. The first was The Grass Roots, which was issued in 1965 and his second, which is this disc of 33.33 rpm was called The Grass Is Greener.
