MGM label

Discos De Centro America (DIDECA) is known to have been responsible for the marketing of MGM product in Guatemala following the Polydor takeover of the label. The above album would appear to be the first locally pressed Guatemalan album release.

Same content as USA LP MGM SE 3853 CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS SPANISH & LATIN AMERICAN FAVORITES but supplied in different picture sleeve.

Also issued on MC MGM 3110 349.

From its inferior reproduction, and positioning of sleeve picture, the above is clearly a re-photographed copy of the cover design to MEXICO KARUSSELL LPR 12043 LOS GRANDES EXITOS DE CONNIE FRANCIS. Picture is that originally featured on USA LP KING LEO LES 903 CONNIE FRANCIS & THE KIDS NEXT DOOR. The above was also assigned the Polydor international number 2315 349. Local number MGM 17001 was first assigned to the same compilation on release in Mexico in 1970. Album liner, which features a color sketch that has no connection with either Connie Francis or the contents, gives set title as CONNEI FRANCIS CANTA EN ESPANOL, while labels state CONNIE EN ESPANOL. The title LOS GRANDES EXITOS DE CONNIE FRANCIS, therefore, would appear to be the result of the re-photographed Mexican cover front.
