one song out of the twelve scores just under ten, and eight or nine tracks deserve at least 12/10 - some, rate 15/10 - so why isn't this album a solid 10/10 overall rating?

i think it's because the order of the tracks isn't thought through very well: it doesn't show them off to their best advantage, not by a long chalk, chopping and changing between moods, rather than leading into one, building upon it, reaching a peak, then leading into another, building, reaching another peak, starting a third, building upon that and reaching a climax to the album.

this lp of excellent music achieves something: it is less than the sum of its parts.
