Thanks for confirmation on the Australian origin of this release Phil. Could you look at what I've done with "The Cream Of Eric Clapton" and let me know if you think dual listings (Australia and New Zealand) for albums labelled Made In Australasia, without evidence of country of manufacture or an office address, is the best solution. In the boxes I've just been given there are quite a few of these mid eighties albums that have no information other than "Made In Australasia". My current solution is to enter them for both Australia and New Zealand.
Hi Lee,this is where WEA in Australia started getting lazy/careless, in that they didn't airbrush out the "Made in USA" within the copyright blurb on the cover like they used to, but under that blurb is a reference to WEA Records Pty. Limited, which appears on the labels as well. Other clues are the 6-digit MX numbers on the labels, which indicate that the record was manufactured by CBS in Australia, and the absence of a barcode, which the US WEA companies had already been using for a few years. I suspect that the cardboard cover is somewhat thinner than the US norm, too. So, fully-fledged Aussie pressing!
Discogs lists this as Australian and the cat# is unique to Australia. The album however was made in the USA and there are absolutely no references to Australia on the record, label or cover. Regardless, this is the Australian release and most likely the New Zealand release too but I can't find any reference to back that claim on the net.
