Indeed, this is neither reference nor biography though, and while I'm loathe to state that some site "rules" are, shall we say, inconsistently applied, I will restate that on 45cat, you will find many sheet music additions, newspaper and magazine articles, sometimes giving lyrics etc. Admin seems fine with this, so I see no problem doing the same here (Within reason, of course - relevant to issue etc.).

As it is strongly suggested this lyric book here was included in an official issue in at least one country, I think this qualifies on that score too...

...So, I'm going to take the execute moderato decision to leave this here, with these comments and discussion serving as informative notes regarding it for the casual observer / researcher landing on this page. If you want to re-upload the lyric book images to the other issue, and make some informative statement about them there too, that would be fine.

There... I've made a decision, and now feel quite dizzy, so will have a nice sit down and a biscuit or two to recover! :)

@Magic Marmalade, I think this question is getting above my pay grade!
I searched the forums and found this 2015 discussion:
https://www.45worlds.com/topic/100998/2

… in which a moderator stated:
“We have a music book world in the pipeline for reference and biographies.

MUSIC / SONG books on MM please only.”
MM = Music Memorabilia.

 Thanks Kevin,

..But I think my question still stands, as to whether it can perhaps stay here, as well as being uploaded to other issues on site, or copied over from here, or simply being moved to the other relevant issue(s), which, as a moderator, I can do :)

@Magic Marmalade, just to clarify, the little lyric book was not published by the record company; it was published by the songbook/folio publisher. I have yet to see any song folio images attached here in 45worlds along with the albums which they match. You might want to raise the issue with a moderator.

Would this lyric book have been available separately, or existed independently of any issue?

I ask because it is a long standing convention on 45cat to add sheet music and the like to entries there, and this seems to be a similar thing, if you see my point of view.

So wondered if it could stay here, with these comments serving as an adequate not on the lyric book, and then maybe copied over to the US issue, with the note about it being bound in to issues there?

opinions?

@kab2112 the lyric booklet and a small poster were tear-out extras bound into the US “Tommy” songbook. It’s great that you have the booklet, but it has no direct connection to this UK release.

I can't seem to find any info on it

My set does not have the wider edge rim on the labels, where the first and third sets here have 'All Rights Of The Owners...' written on.

The US version of "Eyesight" is definitely on the Mobile Fidelity CD here.... John

@BEATLEJOHN: I believe you. I remember reading that Daltrey re-recorded it because he couldn't sing it live in the higher key. Yet my extensive notes that I've been adding to bit by bit for around 20 years don't confirm that he did record it in 1973 - so my memory failure there.
However, I'd be interested to know which version of Tommy this USA (lower key) version maybe found as it wasn't included on the 1996, 2003 or 2013 releases.

Apollo59... ..It's not a new recording (it was then new to the UK!). It's the version that has been on the North American pressings of Tommy since 1969...as far as CD availability both versions have popped up...John

 Original pressing with gloss sleeve.
The 1973 repress with matt sleeve has a new 1973 recording of Eyesight For The Blind (The Hawker) sung by Daltrey in a lower key.

It Is from either The USA (the Track Music Publishing is a giveaway) or possibly Canada...it also has the same songs and copy from this US promo box set...found here...so I think this booklet should be removed from the UK LP page...(and where does it rightfully go?)....John

It could well be from the US. I just wonder how it found it's way into a UK L/P bought new in 1969 in a small Welsh Town. I don't think it belongs with the record. Perhaps retailers were given them as promo items ... who knows?? The normal booklet was also included with the record. Both booklets scanned and uploaded here.

I would say that the 8-pager is a US booklet, because the publisher shown on the front cover is Track Music Inc., rather than the UK publishers Fabulous Music and New Action Music. My UK copy bought new in 1975/76 doesn't have it, but does still have the regular 44-pager.

This record wad bought back in the day from "Terry's of Caernarvon" I seem to remember that the A5 lyric booklet was in the record sleeve. I can't find many references to it, only this Maybe one of the more knowledgeable catters will know if it belongs with the record, and there's load of you out there !!!

I have 3 copies, where the number goes is typed like
"Limited Edition Number" -[followed by] Number (23450 on mine earliest)
Curiously I have one with the first bit but where the actual number should be, is blank.
