German albums/12 inch singles issued by Virgin, Ariola, and even a British "Stylus" album have the Bass Clef on side 2. They all seem to be under the "Ariola-Eurodisc" banner before becoming BMG.
Well done TopPopper, I have now check over all the album cover, sleeves, label, can not see anything with Sonopress or Intercord, all the writing on the sleeves are the storey of ABBA.
This may be Sonopress only way of saying they did this record ?.
Got it! There's a German record manufacturer called Sonopress. They put the bass clef on side 2 of all the albums they make, like a sort of trade mark. There is also a company called Intercord who seem to be related. Intercord are mentioned on that Depeche Mode label. I can't read all the small print on your scans, but I'll bet Sonopress or Intercord are credited somewhere.
I am sure this is a deliberate design, intended to represent a bass clef. Just from the photos, it seems that the one-dot version may have a second dot (to the left as we look), but very small - so maybe it's just a malformed double dot?
The tax codes occurred to me as well, and I wondered if it was some symbol which serves the same purpose as the UK code letters. But if it did, I would expect it to be on the label's other records as well, but I checked some of them and this is the only one I could see.
It looks embossed like the old UK tax code, ref bass clef: one has single dot the other has two dots, I thought at first that it was air bubbles but looking closely I think they are proper markings?.
