My mistake 582035 not 583025 ie as you state, the 3rd digit changed to indicate it was Mono rather than stereo.

Thus

583035 - Stereo Version
582035 - Mono Version

Thanks for clearing this up

btw the 583 025 LP does exist with a Fairport connection because it was the Shirley Collins LP "The Power Of The True Love Knot". (She later married Fairport's Ashley Hutchings and the LP was produced by Joe Boyd as was the Fairport LP).

unless polydor or philips uk/phonogram made a mistake, the uk cat# of the mono release was 582035 as the then polydor group uk lp numbering system was for the first three digits to indicate both label and whether mono or stereo°, and the last three digits identifying the individual album for that particular label.

° - viz. polydor 582-001 = mono, 583-001 = stereo; atlantic 587-001 = mono, 588-001 = stereo; reaction 593-001 = mono, 594-001 = stereo; stax 589-001 = mono°° (i don't have a stereo uk stax lp from the period); marmalade 607-001 = mono, 608-001 = stereo; track 612-001 = mono, 613-001 =stereo; (etc, etc.) uk catalogues, lps and printed card album sleeves of the period.

°° - it seems possible both mono and stereo uk editions were in fact released under the "589-" prefix by pooydor in the uk in this period, though only either mono or stereo for any given title: and statements of "mono" or of "stereo" on uk label and/or sleeve ought not to be trusted until the actual recording's been investigated: stax records, memphis' lp sleeves used the identical colour-printed paper fronts glued onto the cardboard sleeve, and only the b+w printed-paper back glued over the folded-over edges of the front differed - and then, they weren't too careful which sleeve they shipped which in. . .

That'll be Emitt Rhodes - typo on the sleeve

The Mono version actually had a different number 583025 instead of 583035

We still have Emmitt Rhodes (should be Emitt Rhodes)...

that's ok jj; going through linking things up to the original releases, quite a lot of errors're surfacing...

(is it worth noting that tyger hutchings = ashley hutchings - one of the "cornerstones" of the english folk revival as well as one of the founders of electric folk... - e.g. steeleye span, the various perms & coms of the etchingham steam whateveritistoday band, etc, etc. - ?)

(& that ian macdonald = ian matthews, sometimes iain matthews - he who also founded matthews southern comfort after first releasing a solo lp of that title, and co-founded plainsong with andy roberts - ?)

Also available with a Mono version. Later reissued with a different, cheap cover.

The album was re-issued on CD:

Fairport's first, and the 20-year old Thompson hit the ground running, in good musical company
The style was largely influenced by US West Coast singer-songwriters of the time, with not a hint of the British folk scene
