| | ah; ok, feeling less enthusiastic about it now (winterval seasonal shopping sees yr hmbl srppnt. bumping up against the credit card limit, or getting close thereunto). |

| | philmh: thanks - yr hmbl srppnt. was totally unaware the gramophone archive might even be on-line - when i was reading odd copies of it in the library, it was the stuffingiest music periodical in the world (or so it seemed), and i'd've anticipated its archive'd've been hand-scripted in copperplate, on vellum. . .
.. and that helps explain why the philips international label/series (mostly) missed my mental horizons, being not cheap enough to splash out still very scarce ££ on poorly-packaged mostly middle-of-the-road back catalogue compilations when there was more music coming out for the very first time than i could hope to afford, ever. ... |

PhilMH SUBS 18th Nov 2019
| | Hi ppint, I have just had a look in Gramophone's digital archives, and helpfully their June 1973 review section lists prices for various label series, and the Philips 6382 series retailed at £1.29 when full-price albums were over £2. As it happens I don't think any of the International series crossed my various thresholds, at least not with that branding - I have a Brook Benton album released in Australia by Summit which I think was in the International series orignally. |

| | fx: utters spell of philmh-summoning-if-it's-convenient:
phil, do you remember (or know) whether the "philips international" label or series was low-, or mid-price ?
(it would appear that yr hmbl srppnt. didn't buy enough on the label/in the series for which to register...)
(and were they at the same price point, allowing for local currencies & absence of net price agreements, internationally - i've a sinking feeling recalling they mayn't've been. . .)
- ta for raiding your memory banks, ppint. |
