PhilMH 11th Jan 2019		Trester, you couldn't have owned this album for several years in late 1970 - i.e. the end of the year 1970 - because it was only issued in the USA in 1969, and Sun's deal with Philips was only made in 1970, so the end of that year would only give you several months. Did you read "late 1970" as "late 1970's"?

PhilMH 10th Jan 2019		Looking further through back issues of Billboard and Record Mirror online, these could even be late 1970 releases, but I'd like to get them a bit more precise; anyone know anyone who has old Philips catalogues/release sheets, or even old issues of Record Retailer?



leonard 10th Jan 2019		There's a whole bunch of these Sun albums dated 1969... I'm inclined to make all of these 1971 unless somebody got release dates from a reliable source.



PhilMH 10th Jan 2019		Not a 1969 release in the UK; that is the copyright year, applicable to the US release. This was distributed in the UK by Philips, who didn't conclude their deal with Sun until mid-1970, and this album appears to have been an early 1971 release at the earliest (reviewed in Gramophone February 1971, but possibly delayed by a lawsuit from Sun's previous UK licensee, who I think was Decca). Plus, Philips'/Phonogram's 7-digit numbering system didn't come into use until 1970 (ditto their sister company Polydor).
