Usually when you "quote" a title it is expected to be correct... "Les Trois Beaux Oiseaux De Paradis" would be correct not "Les Trois Beaux du Paradis", which translates as the three good-looking guys from THE paradise rather than the three birds of paradise. In five years, one person thought this was a Helpful Review. I suggest it may have been the reviewer himself. I think that says it all...
Reviewwhy oh why oh why oh why did she put her excruciating rendition of "les trois beaux du paradis" on this otherwise superb album? she didn't even need to substitute another track for it - the album would have been improved immeasurably simply by leaving it off.
this album made a superb pairing on c90 musiccassette for friends with her ex, richard thompson's doomy, gloomy and magnificent album recorded after their breakup, "across a crowded room", which is all about how "you can't trust anyone these days, you can't trust anyone in this country these days, you can't trust anyone at all. . ." and "she twists the knife again!" -
- whereas linda's take on the breakup was rather more precisely along the lines, "if i close my eyes and count to ten, promise that you won't be there!" - "'cause it's been hell, high water and heartache, since you came along. . !"
