| | @RC, funny you mentioning that! I was at Rice's yesterday(30/8/2015) and whilst there I saw two issues of The Most Of Herman's Hermits, one with the older trademark and label(and an AXIS-6000-series number) and the other, on the early 1980s style label and trademark(with an AX-1000-series number), but I guess EMI were only reissuing the major acts on the newer Axis design and didn't consider Electric Coconut warranted a second issue. |

| | Interesting though this wasn't reissued on the yellow label if it had it would have a different catalogue number |
Neil Forbes 30th Aug 2015
| | A slight variation in the cover art, ay? I haven't seen the cover with the group(?)'s name in yellow. Somehow I don't think the yellow print of "Electric Coconut" would stand out against the background image of all that popcorn. The yellow print cover you have, RC, might be an earlier version of the cover. |
Record Collector 30th Aug 2015
| | I have two copies of this album one as above and the other with the words electric coconut printed in yellow |

| | To be honest, RC, I'm not sure. I think I might be out by a year. The British MFP issue is shown as a 1973 vintage, so perhaps the Aussie version is of that year also, or perhaps the Aussie version is 1972 and the Brit version was held back from release for a year, resulting in a 1973 release. Oh, I'm so confused!
One thing I do know, though, the follow-up LP, Ticker Tape, is definitely from 1974. |
Record Collector 30th Aug 2015
| | I always thought this album came out in 1974 |

| | Oh here we go I'm about to be insalted and peppered haha |
Neil Forbes 20th Feb 2015
| | RC, I guess that makes these albums a "two-off"(ha-ha). But I hope you're watching your screen veeeeerrrrrryyyyy closely! Because I'm about to upload a certain LP. What is it? you might ask....well, it's a large black disc with a hole in the middle and kept in a cardboard sleeve... but that's not important right now! Keep watching! |
Record Collector 20th Feb 2015
| | that's what I mean neil those two were a one off they weren't reissued latter half of the seventies and the eighties |
Neil Forbes 19th Feb 2015
| | Axis's vanishing act, RC? I'd have thought closer to mid-1990s myself. But Popcorn wasn't a one-off, at least not here in Australia. It was followed by Ticker Tape....and then BWD vanished without a trace! |
Record Collector 19th Feb 2015
| | This album was a one off it was never issued again during axises reign until axis label vanished around the early nineties |
Neil Forbes 19th Feb 2015
| | Ah, that's right, RC, you've been to Newcastle! NBN used only the instrumental portion of that "Fly, Robin, Fly" track, about 1976. |
Record Collector 19th Feb 2015
| | They used silver conventions fly robin fly also |
Neil Forbes 19th Feb 2015
| | Pepper Box, by The Peppers? I recall TV station NBN-Newcastle using it as background to station ident. spots in 1975 or 1976, sometime around that era.(that's Newcastle in Australia, not Britain - just to avoid confusion). |
Record Collector 19th Feb 2015
| | It was played a lot on Sydney's 2SM back in the day |
Neil Forbes 19th Feb 2015
| | Funny you should mention Pepper Box, RC, I have that one too, Shall I upload it? Give me a couple of days and you shall behold the vision! |
Record Collector 19th Feb 2015
| | Well that explains pepper box by the peppers issued in early 1975 |
Neil Forbes 19th Feb 2015
| | I was curious and thought I'd ask. I already know about Ticker Tape as I'm the one who uploaded it. I just thought that, on the off-chance(or off the on-chance, ha-ha) there just might have been a third LP out there by this group, but kooks like that theory has slammed against a brick wall. So it appears I have the entire recorded output of Electric Coconut.(by the way, take a look at the Australian Ticker Tape front cover, then compare it to the British Go Moog front, see any similarities?) |

TopPopper 19th Feb 2015
| | According to D***cogs, a single was released in France, with Bill Wellings' own "Jungle Juice" on one side, and on the other, the non-album track, "Breathless". One for the hardcore collector there! |
TopPopper 19th Feb 2015
| | Yes. Spelled Coconut, they released a follow-up album called Ticker Tape. Possibly only in Australia - I'm not sure. Why, are you liking it?
Edit - just seen your comments below. You already know about this! I doubt they did any more than that, to be honest. |

| | I kept myself logged in while I went to another website(Hunter TV) and watched some railway videos while waiting for things to pick up a bit on this site. Luckily, I was able to get straight in without getting that annoying "page not found" message this time around. But the question remains, are there any other LPs by Electric Coconut(even under their alternate spelling)? |

Neil Forbes 19th Feb 2015
| | Just a few minutes ago I had a devil of a job getting back onto this website. I hadn't logged out, but I was in the forums section, I clicked to "refresh" the page or to go to the forums lists, and instead ended up on a yahoo search page. Clicking on "Home"(house icon, top-right of screen) then star icon(favourites) went to my 45worlds and the search engine kept coming back: "page not found!" Took me(at a guess) about 5 tries to get back in, as you can see I finally succeeded! As foe Electric Coconut(or Electrik Cokernut), I wonder if there were any other LPs out there we're not aware of....Hmmmm! |

Neil Forbes 19th Feb 2015
| | ....And just listened to a portion of Jungle Juice(the only original composition by Bill Wellings and Len Hunter on the album)... and yes, it still has that harsh edgy, distorted sound quality to it though Chirpy... didn't sound as bad here as it did on the LP. |
Neil Forbes 19th Feb 2015
| | Okay, RC, just listened to the YT clip for Chirpy... Where was that vocal guide you mentioned? I couldn't hear it. Was it there at all? |

| | Yeah, RC, that's how I got my copy before I came by the LP - and yes, the same harsh edgy sound quality - and it wasn't even Dolby-processed!(ugh!) Don't know where my cassette got to, though. I'll stumble across it by chance one day, maybe! |

| | A2, Samson & Delilah, would've been a hit only in Britain for that group which played around amidst all the cars, buses, trucks and such... I warned 'em! I told 'em they'd get run over if they kept playing in the "Middle Of The Road"(ha-ha). |
TopPopper 17th Feb 2015
| | Keep an eye out for the UK edition when it appears. The act is spelled Cokernut, and the LP title is "Go Moog" - so they two LPs won't 'see' each other on the site unless we link them. |

| | I'll put the next album up during the week, RC! It's called "Ticker Tape" and WAS issued in 1974, of that I'm ABSOLUTELY sure!(did I just hear the moderator heave a sigh of relief?) and what's more it has four original Len Hunter compositions! Keep watching, should be on the site in the next day or two. |

| | Electric Coconut (aka Elektrik Cokernut) was an English Moog band, formed in Surrey in the 1970s. The group consisted of Len Hunter and Bill Wellings of BWD Productions.
Bill Wellings, Australian ex-pat (and former catalogue model), had pioneered the anonymous pop cover versions concept with the Top Six EPs in the mid-60s (a series which gave a big break to a young arranger by the name of Johnny Harris
Wellings formed BWD in the late sixties and did an exclusive deal with Music for Pleasure (MFP) - the first 'Hits' LP, Hits 67, came out some time later. It was widely rumoured that this LP featured David Bowie singing on the track 'Penny Lane', but it was actually session man Tony Steven. Hits 70 did feature Elton John, though.
The first Hot Hits LP came in 1970, and features versions of 'Vehicle' and 'Groovin' With Mr Bloe' (the latter played by Larry Adler). Hot Hits Vol. 2 features Blue Mink's Barry Morgan on drums, as does Vol 4.
Among the Music Directors regularly used by BWD Productions were Alan Moorhouse, Johnny Harris, Johnny Howard and Len Hunter.
BWD was based in Guildford. Bill Wellings is deceased, with the BWD catalogue now in the hands of his wife. BWD also recorded for the Contour label, using the name 'Cherry Orchard Productions' - Swing Gently with Strauss being one of their releases.

| | And while I recover my sanity(and, I hope, a bit of credibility), I'd say this RC, the Lieutenant Pigeon LP you have, if it's on Axis, may have been issued in 1974 but these Axis LPs are drawn from various periods and are sometimes reissues of albums from some years earlier. The next issue after Lt. P's album may well be a reissue of something that first came out in 1964(hypothetical case). |

Neil Forbes 17th Feb 2015
| | RC, naughty boy! you weren't paying attention! Jungle Juice is the only track on this album that is NOT a version of anyone else's work! It's an Electric Coconut original but it's the track with the worst sound quality - REALLY harsh and edgy! The Lieutenant Pigeon track covered here is "Mouldy Old Dough" from 1972. The newest tune in this set is B6, "Back Off Boogaloo" originally done by Ringo Starr and I just now realised..... it ISN'T from his 1973 self-titled LP, it's instead on a compilation LP called "Blast From Your Past" Oh I'm such a goose! This Electric Coconut LP IS from 1972 after all! Mod, could you please make that change? |

| | Sound quality-wise a harsh, edgy recording! The fixed that problem for their second outing, Ticker Tape(which I'll upload next). Thought this to be a 1972 album for so long, but as I entered the details, that last track on Side B told me otherwise. So, to be safe rather than sorry, I'll identify this as a 1973 issue. |
