Horsford Recording Engineer: Ed Rice Cover Photo: Jim Britt Liner Photographs courtesy Ebony Magazine The liner notes read as follows: "On June 18, 1971 at the Sheraton Park Hotel, Washington, D.C. another chapter was written in our black history as over 3,000 persons gathered to honour and financially support The Congressional Black Caucus. This inaugural national banquet was to honor the thirteen congressmen who were elected by their districts and subsequently serve the interests of over 25,000,000 black Americans. It is the first time that such a union between our political brothers and sisters has taken place, and this recording is a live performance of the keynote speaker Ossie Davis and guest speaker Bill Cosby. Both Mr Cosby and Mr Davis are in the vanguard of those who serve when called to assist in the struggle of our people to create a "new reality" in this century. A percentage of the profits realized from the sale of this album will be given to The Congressional Black Caucus to help defray the costs of their professional administrative and research staff."
