Released in early 1960 (January/February).
Unauthorised release: Issued without the consent or knowledge of Nina Simone who at that point was under contract to Colpix Records (since April 1959).
Stereo issue: Bethlehem LP # BS-6041.

BB February 29, 1960, p. 38 (Reviews and Ratings of New Albums: Jazz, 3-star review).
BB April 4, 1960, p. 47 (Showcase of New and Outstanding LP's: Jazz).

Nina Simone herself wrote:
"My first album for Colpix was The Amazing Nina Simone, but before it even came out Bethlehem had released a rival, Nina Simone and Her Friends, which contained the few remaining songs that we had decided not to use on Little Girl Blue. I had no idea that Bethlehem had any intention to do such a thing until I saw it on display in a record store window in Greenwich Village, but there was nothing I could do about it" (Nina Simone with Stephen Cleary: I Put A Spell On You. The Autobiography of Nina Simone, New York 1992, p. 65).
However, for everything we know Bethlehem's pirate LP was not released before Simone's first Colpix LP (The Amazing Nina Simone) but only in early 1960.

re notes: this lp from bethlehem was not a "pirate lp": the tracks had been recorded for bethlehem, were owned outright by them, and were legitimately - albeit somewhat ill-manneredly - released on record by them.
bethlehem (and their owners, and their successor companies) could and would, fully legally, issue, reissue, release mix-and-match "best of"s under a variety of titles, and licence - or even sell outright - any of the recordings they owned to other companies. no authorisation by nina simone was required for their release by bethlehem.
