| | Hi, Vidman45! As I said, I trawled through the discography on ND on 45Cat. and saw all these issue dates for 45s that were post-1966. So what you're saying is: the tracks were intended for this album primarily, then, at Bert Berns'(owner of Bang) discretion, issued on singles over a period of two or three years thereafter.(of course, Bert Berns, who was a dab hand at songwriting himself, penning songs as Bert Berns or Bert Russell, died in 1968, leaving Bang staff to keep the label going). Diamond would go on to make several more singles for Bang but these would turn up mainly on compilation albums more-so than be dedicated to any specific intentionally-made album by Neil Diamond. |

| | This was Diamond's first LP, first charted in Oct. 1966. When he switched to UNI/ MCA in 1968, Bang continued releasing, and re-releasing 45's and LP's to compete with his current recordings into the 1970's. This was a similar situation to what Rick Nelson faced when he changed labels to Decca. Imperial flooded the market with older catalog material on 45's and albums to confuse the record buyers. |

| | R.C., how goes it? Neil Diamond's Bang label recordings have been repackaged and reconfigured into that many album compilations, by EMI on vinyl, and now by Sony on CD that it would do anyone's head in trying to keep up with them all(pass me another aspirin, please, my head's starting to ache!). |

| | One last mention on this one, I think the release year may be out by two years. I was just on 45Cat. and checking Neil Diamond's discography and a couple of these came up as 1968 single issues. New Orleans/Hanky-Panky is shown as Bang B-554, issued January, 1968. There's one example. I think this album is more a compilation of his hits from 1966 to 1968, including some A- and B-sides. But I couldn't find a 45rpm number for Monday, Monday. |

| | R.C.: "And CBS here in Australia also". Yes, but from 1973 onward(Jonathan Livingston Seagull was his first CBS LP in this market, as it was elsewhere). In Britain from 1966 to 1969, he wasn't actually WITH the British arm of CBS, CBS merely licenced his Bang label issues for that market. From late '68, for argument's sake, 1969, he was on MCA's Uni label with Tom Catalano producing, then Catalano followed Diamond to CBS/Columbia in 1973 in the USA, resulting in him appearing on CBS in other markets as well. A potted history(not a Pottered history because my name ain't Harry!) |

| | Ooooohhh you're such a stirrer, MM! Thing is, these tracks predate Neil Diamond's time at MCA, the recordings here(and all the rest of his work at Bang, where he was produced by Jeff Barry & Ellie Greenwich) has ended up with Sony. Interesting thing... From about 1964 to 196?(don't know exactly when), Gene Pitney appeared on EMI/Stateside in your neck of the woods, MM, but down here in Aussie, he was on CBS, but with Neil Diamond from 1966 to 1969, it was the reverse. Diamond was on EMI/Stateside in Australia but appeared on CBS in Britain, bit of trivia for you. |

| | I have every track here tucked away in MP3 audio files. This is one album I can make up for myself. Always liked these earlier works by Neil Diamond. IMHO better than what he did at MCA. |
