 Abridged sleeve notes:

Japanese Tears, which was the title of this album in its previous incarnation on Scratch Records, was written by Denny en route from Japan to the south of France. Paul McCartney's well-publicised skirmish with the Japanese Customs authorities, in January 1980, resulted in his temporary incarceration. In the event, the tour was cancelled and Denny Laine flew back to Europe where he was due to attend the annual music industry get together, Midem, in Cannes.

It was during that flight that Denny wrote Japanese Tears, his own personal comment on the McCartney incident, and within hours of arriving at Midem, a deal had been negotiated for world-wide release of the ensuing single. Jo Jo, who had her own recording career at the time, helped Denny out on the vocals.

Same Mistakes, Silver and Somebody Ought To Know The Way include Howie Casey in the musician line-up, who was a member of Wing's touring band in 1976 and 1979.

Send Me The Heart was co-written by Denny with Paul McCartney in 1974, and recorded in Nashville with various country musicians helping out, with Paul McCartney playing bass and Buddy Emmons on steel guitar. The number comes from the same session that spawned Wings' Junior's Farm and Sally G..

Lover's Light was recorded at Rock City Studios in Shepperton with Wings drummer Steve Holly taking part in the session.

I Would Only Smile dates from circa 1972 and is notable for featuring original Wings members drummer Denny Seiwell and guitarist Henry McCullough (ex-Grease Band) - the recording was made at the same time as the sessions for the Red Rose Speedway album, released in 1973. Similarly, Weep For Love was an outtake from the recording sessions for Wings' 1979 album Back To The Egg and features a guitar solo by Lawrence Juber, and voices by Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney and Steve Holly.

Steve Holly helps out again on Danger Zone, while Clock On The Wall features all Denny Laine. The track was recorded at Rock City Studios in 1980, just after he left Wings.
