| | Whooops, I've just realized I've been looking at the wrong albums, because I misread SBBL 599 as 559 and got Percy Faith's album instead! Discogs tells me that the Philips mono ALAMO was BBL 7429 (still a hugely different number to the stereo). |

| | Yes, I thought the difference in numbers was a bit odd actually, because by early 1964 when Dusty Springfield released her first Philips LP, the mono and stereo numbers were identical except for the prefixes. |

| | philmh: ta for corrected proper, actual mono cat# of the philips uk 1960 release;
why major uk music corpses didn't simply "s(s-for-stereo)-ify" their mono cat#s as and when they added - usually real - though not always the original recordings - stereo lps to their mono catalogues is a mystery ''mere mortals were not meant to know. . .°
° - hmv were terrible for this too: and their cat# alphabetical prefixes might bear no obvious relationship to the original cat# - e.g. ASD (etc.) stereo release prefixes - either; there's no obvious relationship to the CLP (etc.) prefixes *or* the numbers of the mono originals' cat#s |

| | Agreed, 1962 for this; according to the April 1960 GRAMOPHONE, the mono Philips issue was BBL 7359. |

| | date is^W was wrong and should^W has been corrected to 1962.
a 1960 uk release would not have been upon a label that didn't yet exist then.
it was released on the philips label in 1960 in the uk, cat# SBBL 599 (stereo);
so (prob'ly simultaneously) cat# BBL 599 in mono - ?? (edit: nope; BBL 7429) |
