Aura was intended to be Miles Davis' follow-up to "You're Under Arrest", Miles claimed that Columbia rejected and shelved Aura
while Columbia said that the album's release was delayed by issues with Palle Mikkelborg's own contracts.
This was one of many factors that led Davis to end his nearly 30-year association with Columbia and sign with Warner Bros. in late 1985.

Aura was finally released in September of 1989 and would go on to win a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Performance in 1990.
