This is quite a good album on the whole...

(I was pleasantly surprised)

It is of course, typical Giorgio Moroder-ism, ultra-eighties stuff, but if you like that kind of thing, you'll like this.

Some of the artists come out better from the exercise than others though, such as Freddie Mercury - who could, of course, sing a government white paper on health and safety and still make it sound as good as anything else he does... Freddie is Freddie, and does as Freddie is wont to do - Pat Benatar's track is really good, as is Bonnie Tyler's (Along with Billy Squier's represent the three best here), but Jon Anderson's: Cage Of Freedom (The title alone makes you wince) has dated horribly, as has Loverboy's Destruction (A kind of over-wrought soft rock -hair metal-lite-Foreigner- without-credibility porridge) but Cycle V, are OK, and a couple of noodles from Moroder round it out.

...You will, of course, have noted that I didn't mention Adam Ant's song: What's Going On?

......And that's because it is an absolute car crash catastrophe.

Less a song title than what you feel may have been an earnest question from Mr Ant...

Talk about kick a man when he's down... it sounds like it was written by an unworldly 12 year old on their first outing and performed by a man at a low creative ebb who was just happy to get work.
