Respectfully, the composing credit should be Dave Bartholomew and Sam Rhodes, as on the original July 1952 King Records version. But I may be wrong (I wasn't even alive in 1952):

 Uploaded another variant.
The composer credit for "My Ding-A-Ling" should be Bartholomew-Berry, since Dave Bartholomew had the first recorded version and Berry re-wrote the words and added a few more when he recorded his "My Tambourine" almost ten years later. I have yet to see where co-writing credit was officially given. He stubbornly claimed sole authorship for years.

According to the inside jacket the A side was recorded in London. The B side was Recorded During Performance At The Lanchester Arts Festival, Coventry, England.

Let's face it: anywhere in England probably means London to most Americans.

I've always understood that this was recorded at Lanchester Polytechnic in Coventry (nowadays known as "Coventry University") ... this seems to be backed up by the Wikipedia entry for "My Ding-A-Ling".

Given this fact it is a bit strange that the L.P. is called "The London Chuck Berry Session" as Coventry is about 100 miles north-west of London, I wonder whether there are any "Live" L.P.s recorded in (say) Atlantic City called "Live In New York".

Oh well, geography lessons for all I suppose.

Early pressings also had the late 1960's Chess label design, albeit with the same label fonts from Columbia Records' Pitman, NJ plant as seen on {Images #551214 & 551215}.
