This is, in fact, the very first LP in the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann series of records. It began on the Ceoltas label but all other Comhaltas records have no mention of this creation. However all further Comhaltas LPs have the CL catalogue prefix (not CLS like on this one) and continue the numbering system so that the first Comhaltas LP is CL 2. The first record on the (strictly) Comhaltas Ceoltoirí Éireann label was CL 1 by Eibhlín Ní Bheaglaoich which although called an LP was a 7" disc at 33 1/3 rpm with only four tracks.

This is a remarkable record for having the first recorded performance of Liam og O'Flynn - piper with Planxty and an early performance of Sean Keane - later with Ceoltóirí Chualann and then the Chieftains.

Fokeman 26th Nov 2020		The Comhaltas organisation have recently reissued this on CD and you can even listen to the tracks. Liam O'Flynn is worth a listen if you like the pipes and the whole thing is still classic old-style Irish Traditional Music. Here's the link...
