And .... according to my BB info ... the Sly & The Family Stone song (which officially was the "B" side of "Thank You (Falletinme Be Mice Elf Again)") hit #1 on 14th February 1970 (yes 1970) .. so I don't think that should be considered to be a "Number One Hit of The '60s either. Interestingly Joel Whitburn's book has both sides of the 45 being listed on the BB Hot-100 chart for 13 weeks but he doesn't list "Everyone Is A Star" as ever reaching #1, that accolade going to "Thank You".

There is yet another act on this collection whose included single didn't debut on The BB Chart until the early months of 1970 and didn't hit #1 until May 1970 but I think I've already done enough to earn this June's "45 Worlds Clever-Clogs Of The Month" award so anyone else care to guess who it is??

Mind you, I'm not sure why we are jumping on "Everything Is Beautiful" ... Track B1 "Knock Three Times" by Dawn didn't debut on the BB Hot-100 until 21st November 1970 and didn't hit #1 until 23rd January 1971!!

Maybe "Knock Three Times" sounds a bit more "sixties" than "Everything Is Beautiful" and it is that that put us off the scent!!

According to my copy of Joel Whitburn's Billboard Hot-100 Chart Book H4 "Everything Is Beautiful" debuted on the BB Hot-100 on 4th April 1970 and was at #1 on 30th May and 6th June 1970 so it doesn't look like a "Number One Hit Of 60s" to me.

I presume the record company that issued this is no longer in business? If not could we sue it for false representation? LOL.

Assuming Neil Forbes' info is accurate the Australians were a bit quicker to catch onto this than we folks in Great Britain as H4 didn't debut on the UK charts until 16 May 1970 (peaked at #6).

Must been fast release as some releases would be from the previous year around that time

H4, Everything Is Beautiful(Ray Stevens) charted here, debuting 29th April, 1970, which means it would've been issued as a single during February or March of that year, so it does NOT belong in this set! This goes to emphasise what I said in January. Research is the key to compiling albums like this.

And it is released on the 24th of August 1970 four months after its Australian release

B1, D1, H1 and H4 do not belong in this set because they are from 1970. Goes to show that when albums like this are being compiled, research is either slip-shod or totally out the window(missing, gone)! Same with CDs. I've an EMI 2-CD set of Seventies hits where there are at least 2 from 1969 and another two from 1981. It's one of two separate and distinct compilations that share the title "The 70s(or Seventies) Collection".
If an album like this is to be compiled, strict observance must be paid to the charts of the era intended to be covered, in order that(in this case) only those tracks that were ISSUED in the 1960s decade are used AND reached the coveted #1 spot during, not before or after the decade in question. I may seem like a hard taskmaster but after some of the compilations I've seen, someone has to be!
