Notes

Release info of this disc is found by means of the 17 January 1959 edition of the Cash Box magazine on page 36.

The actual catalog # of this deluxe 3 disc set is Coral CJE-100 thru which these three discs, Coral CRL-57222, Coral CRL-57223 and Coral CRL-57224 are packaged into one record edition. In fact, these three catalog #s will be separately entered because this database only allows the a and b sides of tunes of either a single or double disc format. Also, the front deluxe jacket image of Steve Allen will be in the image entry category of all three discs simply because none of the three records have neither front nor reverse jacket.

The Coral Record Company had assigned the a side of disc # 57222 side #1, and the b side of this disc was given side #6.
By means of disc # 57223, the a side was assigned side # 2, and the b side was given side # 5. Also, on disc # 57224, the a side was rendered side # 3, andthe b side was given side # 4.

Important note: the front side outer sleeve of each individual disc has the catalog # indicated near the top left corner, the corresponding side #, which is of a large red #, is slightly to the lower right side of the catalog # and the all the tunes of that particular side #. More precisely, CRL-57222 has the large red #1, but on the reverse side of the record sleeves, the Coral catalog # do NOT appear, so large red # 6 is on the reverse sleeve side of large red #1.

This jazz story was created by renowned jazz artists Leonard Feather and Steve Allen, but only Mr. Allen tells the history of jazz from the early years beginning in the 1890s to the late fifties. Mr. Allen only performs one tune, and all the tunes remaining were actually recorded by their respective band artists long before this deluxe disc was created.
