No Lee I haven't asked for a correction as my front cover differs - apart from the Gold Star Series sticker there is no "enhanced to Stereo" wording. As yours is the older version it would normally take precedence.

Jasper, have you put in a correction? Your images should be promoted if you do, my copy was gifted to me in this condition but it is so ugly I hardly ever play it. It's a good record though.

I've been wanting to get rid of these water stained images for ages - finally dug up my copy to find it's a later variation - different front, back and labels. My copy bought 5th June 1976. Oh well at least I tried.

Not even the worst on a Buddy Holly record. On the 1958 Buddy Holly LP, John Marascalco is listed as "Naras Calca" on "Ready Teddy", on both the cover and label.

On the label, the composers of A1 are listed as Doudleaux and Feuco Bryant! Really?

That has got to be the worst mangling of anyone's names that I've ever seen.

The entry in the track listing ought to be changed, though, as it's right on the rear cover.

Thanks earlybird, I am now inclined to go for 1970, as I doubt that the Diamond, Masekela, Mirettes, and "Winning" albums would have been shown on the back of this if it had been released in November 1969 or earlier.

Nothing in the Australian Chart Book 1970-1992 for this, or for Neil's album, though Neil's next album, TOUCHING ME TOUCHING YOU entered the album chart on 23 March 1970. No entry for this album at the dreaded Discogs either (not that I would necessarily trust them if it had been there - they say 1971 for the Aussie SWEET CAROLINE). Also no joy at National Library of Australia. And, even if you could find newspaper record reviews from 1969 or 1970 easily, would they bother reviewing a reissue like this? All in all, a toss-up as to whether to go with 1969 or 1970. Maybe go with 1969, as that was the year that Astor launched the label, and this likely would have been an attractive catalogue item to kick off with.

Looks like we need to wait and then send in a list of corrections when we get the details right.

Hi Lee, earlybird is right, as the MCA label didn't start here until September 1969 (according to australianrecordlabels.com). Extra confirmation is the image of Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" LP on the back cover, which was a late 1969 or early 1970 release. I don't know if this album charted, but Neil's probably did, given that the single was a hit, so I'll check the chart book when I get home tonight. And Astor really effed up the writing credit for A1 on the label, didn't they? The sleeve has the Bryants correct names, though.

I am only going on cat#'s and don't know enough to be more accurate but these re-releases are sometimes hard to place. If anyone can give a specific date feel free to send in a correction.
