 Bought this yesterday (took great childish delight in texting my young lady - "I've just bought a jazz mag") and just needle-dropped it - sounds fine to me, though I'm no audiophile - chuffed to have it on vinyl for £4.99 - can't go wrong at that price! Never had it on vinyl before so a double win.

 To answer sladesounds' question they already have the next few LPs lined up:

John Coltrane - Blue Train;
Billie Holiday - Lady In Satin;
Charlie Parker - Now's The Time;
Dave Brubeck Quartet - Time Out

 Further to my comment I have just been browsing the publishers italian web page and they have a blues collection and classical collection on the go!

 I have just listened to my copy and it does sound better than the CD version I already had. It certainly is good enough for me (especially at £4.99).

Just in case you haven't read the small print there is 40 albums in the series being issued at a rate of 2 a month. Seems a great idea but I would love to know what the 40 albums are actually going to be.

What we need now is a similar approach with something like the Vertigo label - that would be cool :) or maybe a World Music on 33 series.

 If I were to be honest, the idea behind the collection is a good one - particularly looking forward to the Billie Holiday and Dave Brubeck albums while the John Coltrane LP will be the first time I've heard anything by him.

 That's still reasonable I think (depending on the quality of course).

I might give it a go, and see if they're worth getting into, but I should imagine true jazz-ers and audiophiles will not be impressed anyway... but would suit me till I can find bona-fiddle American original six-eye Columbia and Blue Note pressings!

(Cheap... I mean seriously cheap. As cheap as me!)

 Hi MM, I believe you can get the next one for £9.99 via the offers on the leaflets,then they all go up to £14.99.

 I was thinking about trying this out when I saw the ad on TV (too good to be true, I thought!).

I see the initial price is £4.99 for the first issue (which is a very punt-able price for a speculation) but what will subsequent issues cost?

 Rest of leaflets added.I've been able to listen to this again today,this time through speakers instead of phones,and although there has been slight improvement,i'd still have to say that the recording overall lacks mid-range/bass depth,and is consequently "thin" and quiet,it would be interesting to hear other peoples comments on the sound quality,of course,this is only the first issue,and they may well improve as they go along,but at £14.99 full price,you'd want them to sound half-way decent.It says in the blurb..."Where possible we have gone back to the master tapes and re-released the albums on 180-gram virgin vinyl,thereby ensuring faithful sound quality and conveying all the original spirit and vitality of some of the best music ever recorded!".I hope it does improve,as this series may well be somebody's first foray into vinyl or Jazz,or both,and it would be a shame if the sound quality isn't all that it promises to be.Time will tell;)

 I just got this this evening at the newsagents.Quite impressed with the concept/packaging and overall presentation,and there is a fair bit to read with the booklet,fold-out and all the leaflets (to follow) with offers to maintain interest,but,when it came to the crunch,i'm afraid that first impressions of the actual recording were that it's a rather "tinny" affair,with little depth,now that could of course be down to my USB turntable,which i admit is very "toppy",but even so,it sounds much brighter than a lot of the other albums that i play on the same turntable.So unless anyone else can confirm this,and until i get a half-decent turntable again to try it on,it would,perhaps be fairer to say that i'm unsure as regards to sound quality (i think i'm expecting too much for my £4.99;).MODS :Do you want just the housing and booklet/fold-out scans added to magazine world?,it's not a standard magazine as such,there's just an 8 page LP size booklet and an 8-way LP size fold-out (to large poster of the "Cotton Club")and some leaflets.
