Maybe Japanese?? I picked it up recently at a shop that gets a lot of second-hand things in from Japan and it is in excellent condition. Japanese companies are notoriously good at retro reproductions. I tend to think it was made recently because of the condition it is in. I'll get the mods to change the label to CBS for starters. Thanks ppint.
it's also on the cbs label, which makes it extremely unlikely it was a standard merkin release; sfaiaa cbs was used in markets where emi or a subsidiary or licensee of emi owned or leased the rights to the columbia (or earlier, "columbia graphophone") name (and associated "linked semiquavers" (musical notes) trade mark/logo).
did merkin columbia press cbs-label lps for subsidiaries in markets where emi (etc) held the rights to the "columbia" name - or could it've been produced thus for distribution via the merkin equivalent of the naafi (?"px stores"?) ?
WRONG, WRONG, AND EVEN WRONGER. I have posted this reissue (?) here with what I believe to be the correct date for the stereo version of 1965. It has the original cat# for the US or Canadian release but no country of origin is evident on the sleeve or record itself. Well not to me. I am hoping someone else knows better. So I'm down to feel as a guide the when this one came out. The record is fairly flexible, more so than a Dynaflex and there is no barcode so my best guess is late 70's early 80's. Is there anyone out there that can pin it down more accurately?
