Notes

From a very young age, Lester Brown was greatly influcened by music that he played in an ameteur saxophone quartet with three brothers. This eventually led Mr. Brown to receive formal academic and advanced musical training at the Ithaca Consservatory of Music. After three years, Mr. Brown had earned a scholarship to the New York Miltary Academy to gain some experience playing in an armed-forces band and earn a bachelor's degree.

To further his musical education, Mr. Brown attened Duke University where he had started his first band known as the Duke Blue Devils, thru which Mr. Brown had professionaly played with this group for a few years until he formed the Band Of Renown in 1938. Then, this band had collaborated with the filmmakers to complete the motion picture "Sweet and Hot."

During the second world war, Mr. Brown and the Band of Renown had played numerous times at the Palladium of Hollywood. A few years after the second world war, Bob Thiele had convinced the owner of the Palladium that the Band of Renown to have the concert that took place the 6 September 1953 to be professionally recorded. About a year later, Coral had issued this concert recording by means of two separate discs of 33.33 rpm and these same two LP discs in an encased in a deluxe LP issue. Accordingly, this disc sold very well that Mr. Brown and the Band of Renown had continued to record many more discs for Coral and other music labels.

Finally, after Coral records had discontinued the catalog ID# of the 56000 series of discs of ten inches, Coral had started a new catalog ID # of the 57000 series for the new LP discs of twelve inches, which were the individually issued discs of catalog #s CRL-57000 and CRL-57001 and these same two LP discs that were together issued in a box set of which the catalog # is CX1.
