Notes Phil Bodner was a studio musician and a multi-instrumentalist who played the clarinet, oboe, saxophone, English horn and flute. In the 1950’s, Mr. Bodner had performed several jazz sessions with Benny Goodman, Miles Davis and Gilbert Evans. Around 1965, Mr. Bodner had founded the Brass Ring, which was a New York City-based group that was one of a number of “Now Sound” bands. The Now Sound groups, such as the Tijuana Brass, the Baja Marimba Band and the Brass Buttons, were popular music groups that played strumental music. By means of this first Dunhill disc of 33.33 rpm of the Brass Ring, this group played the love theme that was of the 1965 film The Flight Of The Phoenix, and other popular strumental love tunes, such as Unchained Melody, Moon River and Love Is A Many Splendored Thing.
