Notes

A piano player named Fred Finn and his wife whose stage name was Mickie Finn wanted to open a night club either in the state of Hawaii or Washington. However, he did not have the finances to transport his collection of nickelodeons, moving pictures of the 1890s, and various musical items of the turn of the twentieth century for such long distances. Instead, Mr. Finn had converted an old warehouse into a rambunctious nightclub, which was located in University Avenue in San Diego.

When the Mickie Finn nightclub first opened the 28 Oct 1960, the maximum number of clients that could sit down was 600. Gradually, more than a thousand persons came into this club every evening that this club had generated $250,000 within a year of its opening. For the next four and a half years, Mr. Finn and his former band mate, Red Watson had played his banjo with Mr. Finn until Mr. Watson had relocated to Las Vegas to play at various nightclubs.

A television producer named Bill Yagemann, who saw Mr. Finn and his band perform at Mickie Finn, Mr. Yagemann was so impressed with his act that he asked Mr. Finn if he wanted to do a television program. When Mr. Finn agreed, he and his wife Mickie were given a rare occasion in which the Mickie Finn night club might become a regular program. Sadly, this program was not chosen to be part of the 1966 fall season of prime time programming.

During the Mickie Finn television production, Mr. Lou Adler had signed Mr. and Mrs. Finn to the Dunhill record label, which had issued four albums and several discs of 45rpms, all of which failed to garner national success with the exception of the America’s Number One Speakeasy disc of 33⅓rpm.

This is the first Dunhill disc thru which Fred and Mickie had recorded. Furthermore, the front jacket depicts a night club where many persons had illegally drank alcohol due to the Prohibition Act of the 1930s.
