Notes

A year after William “Creed Bratton” Schneider, Erik “Rick” Coonce, Warren Entner and Kenny Fukomoto had formed a Los Angeles-based band called The Thirteenth Floor in 1966, Rob Grill had replaced Kenny Fukomoto due to the fact that Mr. Fukomoto was called to the US armed forces. Then, this group had sent a demo tape to Dunhill records to see if any record producers were interested in their music. Consequently, Dunhill enjoyed this type of music so much that Philip “P. F. Sloan” Schlein and Steve “Barri” Lipkin had signed a contract to this Thirteenth Floor band which became the most prosperous rock group of the Sloan and Barri musical project of the Grass Roots.

In the spring and early summer of 1967, this Grass Roots genre had recorded a disc of 45 rpm and a disc of 33.33 rpm of Let’s Live For Today, which had both sold very well. Besides Let’s Live For Today, one other tune, The Things I Should Have Said, of this LP disc, was issued by means of a disc of 45 rpm and had peaked in the top 25 percent of the Billboard hit parade of discs of 45 rpm. Accordingly, this was the first time that the “Grass Roots” project of Barri and Sloan had achieved such prosperity in a rather short time period.

Though this was the third LP disc of the Grass Roots that Dunhill had issued, this record did not sell well, but this incarnation of the Grass Roots continued to output both successful discs of 33.33 and of 45 rpm for the next few years. Furthermore, this was the first Dunhill LP by which the front jacket had indicated the ABC logo to the right of the Dunhill logo despite the fact that the a- and b-sides of these Dunhill vinyl discs still had indicated only the Dunhill logo. Finally, this was the final Dunhill disc of 33.33 rpm of the Grass Roots that was originally issued with only the Dunhill logo and that was both monaurally and stereophonically issued.
