Notes

This is the second solo disc of Buddy Holly that was NOT postumusly issued, whereas the self-titled LP that was distributed by Coral records was the first. Furthermore, all the thirty-five tunes of Mr. Holly that were released by means of his first three pre-postumus albums were only monaurally recorded and were never available in true stereo.

All the eleven tracks of this Decca disc of 33.33 rpm were recorded in Nashville in 1956 at the barn of Owen Bradley, who was their producer at that time. The five tracks of this disc that were recorded under Buddy Holly and the Three Tunes were Rock Around With Ollie Vee, Ting-A-Ling, Girl On My Mind, That'll Be The Day and I'm Changing All Those Changes. Eventually, six tunes were issued by means of three Decca discs of 45 rpm, but these tunes had NOT achieved any success; therefore, Decca did NOT renew their recording contract.

After Mr. Holly had departed from Decca records, he and his newly formed Crickets group had secured a recording contract in 1957 with Norman Petty, who owned the Petty Recording Studio, where Mr. Holly had re-recorded the ultra prosperous That'll Be The Day. Accordingly, Decca had issued the 1956 recording of That'll Be The Day as a disc of 45 rpm, which sadly had NOT gained any prosperity despite the success of this re-recorded Brunswick tune. A few months later, Decca had released 11 of the Nashville recordings under the title of That'll Be The Day.

Despite the low sales of both the pre-postumus and postumus LPs of Buddy Holly, Mr. Holly is still regarded a well-resprected pioneer who successfully mixed bluegrass and rock and roll music that attracted much larger groups of music listeners that had never been exposed to country and western music.
