I had this album in the 1960s. Cheap from a pawn shop. Now they sell for 3 figures.
BUT I also saw a volume 2 later in the 60s. They are saying there was no volume 2.
Most of the cuts are demos by the staff singers.
Now I have a cassette of it retitled Carole King Plus, from 1991, I expect from digital.
Oh! Oh! It Started All Over Again was a great B side by Brenda Lee.
yes this got a UK release on the London in 62 [?] I think I have a copy somewhere. [Mono album] It has a near identical cover to the 73 album but its a plum label..
I have the German Oldies But Goldies issue ready for uploading, but before I do, I noticed a discrepancy between the issue year on the cover and the labels. The cover gives 1974 as the issue year but the labels say 1973. I'll go for the default position and take what's on the label as the correct date. And Yankeedisc, It is more than likely yours is in "processed"(fake or synthetic) stereo. As that is the effect on this version. That said, I'm about to upload.
This compilation was also reissued in UK circa 1973 by Decca Records on their London imprint, ZGU 131. see link for details.
I have a copy, purchased around 1976, but cannot confirm if it is processed stereo, as it is stored away currently. The track running order is same as this US issue.
I wonder if the original 1962 US issue was released in UK around the same date, 1962/1963.
The very same contents(in same track order) was issued in Germany by Teldec(Telefunken-Decca) on the London label as "Oldies But Goldies" in 1974 as NL-830. And it was in "synthetic stereo", not true stereo.
A $2.00 find back in 1986!...the cover is a little banged up but the record was pristine!...(Locomotion is the "Handclap" version)...To this day I don't think any of the CD versions of these songs equal the brilliance of this record pressing!....(whomever EQ'd it in the mastering did a wonderful job!)....John
