...this was two photographs stitched together in ICE.
I was able to get a little closer, because I didn't have to encompass the whole cover in the view-finder/screen... The detail is a little better therefore, and I put a tab of card over the flash (with tape), leaving a gap, top and bottom for the light of the flash to come out sideways, but not shine directly on the cover, bounce back, and make that "bulb" image on the cover.
Fixed the camera -pointing down at cover, took the photo of the top half, then just moved the cover up and took a photo of the bottom half.
I think I might be able to get away with getting even closer, and doing four quarters like this.
There's a bit of an art to it - it can be surprising how difficult it is end up with a perspective-free image. Or maybe that's just me and my camera, sorry- phone..
Since my scanner is heading for the biscuit farm, I thought I'd try and experiment with taking a picture of a cover with my digital camera...
Placed on the floor in the hallway, with light from no one particular direction, just ambient light, and holding the camera about three feet above it.
Think it looks ok, albeit a simple cover design to try out on, and I did try with a couple more covers that didn't come out so well - details looked a bit misty.
(Just sharpened the image a tad and adjusted the exposure on PC)
