Notes

James "Langston" Hughes was a renowned poet whose maternal grandmother had instilled everlasting racial pride despite and had imbued him a duty to help the African-American race due to extreme racial segregation that had been re-established during the presidential years of Woodrow Wilson.

Interestingly, the Weary Blues was Mr. Hughes' first book of poetry that contained his signature poem "The Negro Speaks of Rivers." By means of this MGM disc, Mr. Hughes recites various sections of poems while jazz spectacular Charles Mingus and Leonard Feather play the music in the background to add a relaxing and more enthusiastic type of inspiration.

Though this disc did not sell well, Mr. Hughes still gained more prominence thru the guidance of various New York publishers and had internationally traveled to inspire people never to quit despite the challenges and difficulties might be.

Lastly, this was the second MGM disc of 33.33 rpm thru which the front jacket had indicated the catalog ID # to the right of the new MGM logo which was in the structure of the letters b and q which intersected and formed a circle thru which a spiral and a bullseye dot were enclosed and thru which a forward slash divided the b and q letters by means of the bullseye dot.
