Notes

Sara Bolling Mason a.k.a. Sallie Blair, who was born in Baltimore, had established her career a singer with Johnny Otis in the early 1950s and had performed at various clubs in the Baltimore-Washington D.C. area. After Miss Blair had won the top prize by means of the television program "The Chance of A Lifetime", she was booked in renowned night clubs, such as the Vanity Fair of Miami, the New York Cafe Society and the Boulevard of Queens, NY.

After Cab Calloway had seen Ms. Blair sing at a posh night club, he brought her to his Cotton Club Revue show thru which she made guest appearances in Miami Beach, Las Vegas and Hollywood. In 1956, Ms. Blair had recorded the songs of the Gershwin opera Porgy And Bess by means of the Bethlehem record studio. A year later, Ms. Blair had recorded the disc "Squeeze Me" thru which she had chiefly interpreted popular standards, such as "Ain't She Sweet", "Almost Like Being In Love" and many others.

When Ms. Blair recorded this MGM disc "Hello Tiger!" with Neal Hefti who was the arranger and conductor of these tunes, she also sang renowned songs such as Fever, That Old Black Magic, Witchcraft and many more. Though this MGM disc had sold poorly, Ms. Blair was still prosperous thru her night club singing and was in demand for at least three more decades until her health had begun to deteriorate.
