Notes Sam (The Man) Taylor was an American jazz and blues tenor saxophonist whose honking style had set the standard for tenor saxophone solos in both rhythm and blues and jazz. A few years earlier, Mr. Taylor had recorded and had issued an MGM disc of 33.33 rpm, called Blue Mist. This MGM disc of 33.33 rpm is the second Blue Mist disc, more specifically titled More Blue Mist and unofficially subtitled In The Mood For Sax. This disc contained some popular tunes, such as Love Me which was most renowned by Elvis Presley, I'm In The Mood For Love, made into a popular doo wop tune by the Chimes, and Close Your Eyes, which was a rhythm and blue success by the Five Keys and later by Peaches and Herb in 1967. Though this disc did not sell well, this disc has become a sought-after item primarily of jazz and saxophone tenor listeners due to the unique honking style of Mr. Sam (The Man) Taylor. Images
