Notes Bess Myerson was the first lady, won the Miss America Beauty Pagent contest in 1945 by means of a rare combination of beauty, personality and accomplished musicianship, most notably a pianist. Thru this disc of 33.33 rpm, Ms. Myerson plays various popular tunes of the 1920s, such as Ain't She Sweet, Whispering and Makin' Whoopee. Furthermore, of the remaining nine tunes that she played, three were popular in the 1930s, the next three were prosperous in the 1940s and the final three were popular in the 1950s. Even though this MGM disc did not sell very well, it became a sought-after disc for piano listeners and players who truly enjoyed popular music from the era of the 1920s to the decade of the 1950s.
