Due to the fact that Gigi was one of the top-rated films of 1958, various recordings of this soundtrack were made by David Rose and the MGM orchestra. Furthermore, Mr. Lerner and Mr. Loewe did a supreme job in writing the score of such a musical. The Gigi film was also issued on a disc of 33.33 rpm in the French language. This recording also was prosperous mainly because this film was based on a novel that was written in French.

After a Spanish recording was made and produced in Mexico, this MGM disc of Gigi was issued in 1959 in Spanish, but sadly this translation of the Gigi production did not sell well. Consequently, this MGM Spanish disc has become a "holy grail" disc among the Spanish speaking population and spectators who greatly enjoyed the Gigi film.
